Who Are We Looking For?

At Vestwell, People make all the difference. As we continue to scale, Vestwell is looking for an exceptional Associate, Strategic Finance to join our finance team. In this role, you will report to Vestwell’s Director of FP&A, work closely with the CFO, and partner cross-functionally with senior leaders across the organization.

What Will You Be Doing?

As an Associate of Strategic Finance, you will serve as a strategic, individual contributor, supporting leadership with financial analysis, modeling, and strategic decision-making. This is a high-impact role that requires independent judgment, analytical rigor, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that influence decision making. You will play a meaningful role in shaping Vestwell’s financial strategy, supporting executive decision-making, and helping guide the company’s long-term trajectory. You will be refining and maintaining our operating model, managing and helping to coordinate our annual budget, developing materials and communications with our Board / Investors, as well as digging into a wide-range of strategic and financial projects.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Refine and maintain the company’s operating model, manage the annual budget, and analyze financial performance against strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with P&L owners and cross-functional stakeholders to understand business drivers, identify opportunities, and recommend solutions.
  • Assist leadership in preparing monthly and annual investor materials, and other Board communications, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strategic framing.
  • Conduct budget vs. actual analysis, identify trends and surface opportunities for efficiency, optimization, and cost savings.
  • Contribute to special projects and analyses across the business, including supporting M&A, fundraising and IPO readiness efforts.
  • Analyze, summarize, and clearly communicate financial and operational metrics to support informed decision-making across the business.
  • Exercise sound judgement and discretion in developing analyses, forming recommendations, and presenting findings and insights to leadership.

Requirements

The Necessities:

  • 2-3+ years of relevant experience, with 2+ years at a top-tier investment bank strongly preferred
  • Exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills are required
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with the ability to uplevel and simplify to drive clarity
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and deliver exceptional work under tight timelines
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with success in thriving in a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment

The Extras:

  • Experience going through an IPO in a Strategic Finance or FP&A function is a plus
  • Financial accounting knowledge is a plus
  • Startup, FinTech, Tech, and/or Financial Services experience would be helpful

This role will be based in our New York City HQ and will be part of Vestwell's hybrid in-office operation.

The expected base salary range for this position is $115K - $125K, plus performance base bonus. This position is eligible to participate to receive new hire equity in the Company. Please note that salary bands are based on NY and other similar metro areas and may differ based on where the role is ultimately hired.
