Position Description

Bluebird Kids Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate APRN with a patient and family-first mindset for our Jacksonville offices. The APRN will provide comprehensive evidence-based healthcare to infants, children, adolescents and young adults including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. The ideal APRN candidate will work collaboratively with primary care physicians and other healthcare professionals, and support staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care, aligning with interdisciplinary clinical teams to ensure the highest quality of care for our young patients, in a mission-driven and value-based contracting environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

What You’ll Do

Patient Care

  • Work within collaborative agreement with physician(s) and be an active member of the Bluebird Kids clinical team.
  • Conduct thorough physical exams, obtain medical histories, and evaluate health and developmental status.
  • Diagnose and treat common conditions affecting children, adolescents and young adults as well as perform routine childhood wellness exams.
  • Prescribe medications and other treatments as appropriate.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and X-rays.

Health Promotion & Disease Prevention

  • Educate parents, guardians and patients on preventative healthcare, nutrition, and lifestyle choices.
  • Advise on childhood safety, injury prevention and disease.
  • Promote vaccination and immunization programs.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Collaborate with pediatricians, specialists, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Refer patients to specialists or other healthcare facilities when necessary.

Patient & Family Education

  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families about diagnosis, treatment options, and care plans.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and standards.

Professional Development

  • Stay current with the latest developments, guidelines, and research in pediatric healthcare.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.

Other Duties as Assigned

What You’ll Need

  • Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited medical school
  • Experience: Prior experience in a pediatric setting preferred but not required
  • Licensure/Certification: Current APRN license to practice in Florida
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency with EMR system(s) and documentation methods
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
