BenchSci is on a mission to help bring new medicines to patients faster — and that requires a
foundation that’s built for scale and speed. We’re strengthening the core of our HR programs and
foundations, and we’re looking for a hands-on specialist who can turn complexity into clarity.
In this role, you’ll be the execution backbone for key HR and compensation programs. You’ll bring
order to messy workflows, reduce manual friction, and help us move from “start-up scrappy” to
“consistently excellent.” You’ll run programs, support compliance, and build repeatable systems
that leaders can rely on — all while partnering closely with our Senior Manager of Talent
Operations and VP of HR.
You’ll also operate across a truly global footprint. We have employees in Canada, the US, and the
UK, as well as others employed through an EOR — and you’ll help ensure our programs run
smoothly, accurately, and consistently across all regions.
If you’re curious, practical, and energized by untangling ambiguous problems, you’ll thrive here.
*Please note that internally this position is titled as“Senior Talent Operations Specialist”—reporting to the
Senior Manager, Talent Operations.
Why This Role Matters Now:
BenchSci is in a period of transformation — adapting to the rise of AI-enabled work, new
legislation, changing market realities, and a higher bar for operational excellence. We’re
strengthening our people foundation, and we need a technical operator who can execute quickly
and with precision, with a builder’s mindset.
Pay range: $88,000 - $97,000
We know compensation is an important part of choosing your next role. The range shown reflects our target hiring range, informed by market data, internal equity, and the role’s current scope. Often the mid-range is where we tend to fall, but individual offers may vary based on experience, skills, and the role scope.
What You'll Do:
- Collaborate across the HR team to support the rollout, testing, and execution of HR processes and cross-functional initiatives as BenchSci evolves.
- Identify process gaps and proactively recommend operational improvements that enhance accuracy, speed, scalability, and the overall employee and manager experience.
- Refine and automate core HR workflows to reduce manual work and increase reliability.
- Drive the review and creation of HR policies, ensuring they balance compliance requirements while remaining clear, approachable, and culture-aligned.
- Support the delivery of HR reporting, transforming data into actionable analytics and insights that drive business outcomes.
- Manage the end-to-end process of employee leaves and accommodations, acting as an expert to guide employees and managers to create a seamless transition.
- Partner with HR leadership to ensure compliance across programs, global employment requirements, and evolving legislation — raising risks early and supporting smooth implementation.
- Support the operational delivery of and updates to Total Rewards programs — including compensation and equity.
- Maintain compensation bands, job architecture, and supporting tools, keeping documentation clean, up to date, and easy for managers to use.
- Own the execution of our annual compensation cycles — including salary reviews and equity refreshers — ensuring accuracy, consistency, and an excellent user experience.
- Support global mobility and complex employment cases, coordinating with external vendors and EORs to ensure a compliant, seamless employee experience.
What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months)
- Friction is removed from HR operations, and manual processes are reduced through better workflow design, documentation, and AI & automation.
- You have helped move the HR team beyond basic reporting to meaningful storytelling through mature people analytics.
- Compensation cycles are executed with high accuracy and strong cross-functional trust.
- Compensation bands and job architecture are implemented, understood, and adopted.
You’ll Thrive In This Role If:
- You bring 4+ years of experience in the HR space, with at least 2 years in a generalist or operations-focused role.
- You have proven experience supporting benefits design, compensation cycles, and compensation frameworks. Experience in global mobility is a strong asset.
- You possess demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
- You’re comfortable working with partial information, creating stable processes where none existed, and rapidly prioritizing system fixes alongside strategic projects.
- You see messy processes as puzzles to solve. You enjoy hands-on execution and taking real ownership of outcomes.
- You can move seamlessly between calculating complex compensation models and ensuring smooth operations. This requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to develop/update reports and modeling tools.
- You have a strong interest or experience in automation, AI, or process improvement — an ability to work “smarter” and focus on high-impact work.
- You naturally step up to mentor and guide peers on best practices for data management, compensation procedures, and compliance.
