*Please note that internally this position is titled as a Senior Talent Business Partner (TBP).
Who we need:
Reporting to the VP of Talent, we are looking for a Senior Talent Business Partner (TBP) to join our team; someone driven by intelligence and integrity. As our new Senior TBP, you will blend strategy with hands-on execution to support building high-performing teams throughout our organization. You will foster trusting partnerships within your assigned business units and drive impactful talent strategies aligned with company objectives. You will leverage your experience to advise leaders and drive success in performance optimization, employee relations, engagement, talent development, and more.
What's in it for you:
Ownership and influence. You want to take on the ownership and accountabilities of a senior role at a scaling company with an exciting mission. As a "Mini People Officer" for your designated business unit, you will ensure its success by closely monitoring metrics, addressing issues, and fostering positive dynamics. Your role will be pivotal in nurturing a thriving team environment that will contribute to the company's success.
Impact. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization focused on accelerating the pace of medicine to market. Our products, scientists, and business operate at the highest standard and are collectively committed to building something special. You will play a crucial role in upholding our commitment to nurturing a thriving and motivating culture, all aimed at delivering transformative technology that has the power to change the world.

You will:

  • Partner with senior leadership. You will develop a deep understanding of key business priorities and continuously ask senior leaders, "How can I help you meet your business goals?". You will partner to build and execute a talent strategy that enables and contributes to attaining these goals. You will consult with senior leadership to influence and advise on barriers to success, driving proactive solutions that support building a high-performance environment.
  • Be a source of support and expertise. You will guide a team of people leaders—ranging in seniority—on executing talent management practices, such as organizational design, performance management, change management, retention and engagement, and succession planning. As the go-to person for various employee and people leader challenges, you will collaborate with peers and navigate complex employee relation matters promptly and sensitively, supporting people leaders and employees through resolution.
  • Foster relationships. You will collaborate with People Operations, Talent Development, Talent Acquisition, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and leverage cross-functional knowledge to enable and empower a high-performing team.
  • Nurture continuous improvement. You will stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices to apply to our talent management strategies. You will partner with peers across the Talent Business Partnership team to establish operating principles and best practices for a scaling organization.
  • Be a culture ambassador. You will lead by example, supporting a positive work environment with strong values and a high-touch employee experience. You will proactively identify cultural hot spots and areas for improvement.

You have:

  • The experience. As an HR Business Partner at a scaling organization, you have extensive expertise advising and supporting functional leaders and bridging people programs and business needs. You bring a deep understanding of designing and implementing best practices in a complex and fast-paced environment, including performance management, total rewards, employee relations and investigations, management coaching, culture and values. You have the experience to know what works and doesn't work in small-to-midsize companies. As a strategic thought leader, you can independently execute your ideas and champion plans while remaining open and flexible to feedback. You have an in-depth understanding of employment standards and applicable employment legislation across Canada, including Quebec.
  • The consulting approach. You are a true partner and contributor, working alongside your internal clients and empowering them with the tools, strategies, resources, and project plans to meet business goals. You prioritize building and nurturing ongoing relationships, earning trust and influencing without authority. You are a critical thinker driven by curiosity, asking intelligent questions to obtain information, identify root causes, and determine business solutions.
  • The project management skills. You can identify gaps or problems and propose and execute solutions, ensuring adoption and engagement. You can take the initiative and see it through from project plan to rollout, meeting deliverables, budget and timing, seamlessly adapting to changes in priorities, and shifting your focus when necessary.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have outstanding professional written, verbal, and presentation skills. You can navigate conflict, manage stressful situations, mediate, and facilitate discussions at the senior leadership level. You can work across teams and with any stakeholder level. You genuinely appreciate and actively promote diverse experiences and backgrounds. You have a proven ability to influence and drive change, and you are interested in understanding others, hearing their perspectives, and addressing their concerns.
  • The technical skills. You are data-driven and able to draw deep insights from your analysis. You are highly proficient in Google Suite and have exposure working with an HRIS. Dayforce experience would be an asset.
