Adela’s first product was recently clinically validated for predicting and surveilling for recurrence in patients with head & neck cancer and published in Annals of Oncology.
Adela is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist III to join our Commercial team.This is an opportunity to partner with the Director of Clinical Lab Operations and Assay Development to transfer technology, develop assays and support clinical sample processing in the CLIA/CAP accredited laboratory
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts advanced laboratory tests, evaluates results, and collaborates across departments.
- Support/execute accurate testing in the clinical laboratory to obtain data for diagnosis or reporting out clinical trial results.
- Work cross-functionally with the Assay Development and Lab Operations team to develop processes and incorporate novel molecular assays into the CLIA/CAP laboratory.
- Execute high complexity molecular tests in a regulated CLIA/CAP environment including pre/post analytical and analytical processes with a focus on Next Generation Sequencing based technology.
- Provides leadership in laboratory operations, revises current and develops new process improvements.
- Participate in the development and clinical testing activities related to the Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs).
- Implementation of automated protocols.
- Contributes to R&D to CLIA tech transfer and troubleshooting, training, and validations.
- Work with the Quality team to establish and follow policies and procedures compliant with CLIA/CAP guidelines
- Perform quality control checks, proficiency tests, and maintain records for all tests
- Participate in Lab Software testing and deployment
- Knowledge of applicable local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures aimed at ensuring the privacy of patients.
- Manage maintenance of automated instrumentation including troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of all equipment
- Perform or assist with Laboratory Inventory Management.
- Perform or assist in the accessioning and receiving of samples and materials into the laboratory.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work flexibly under given timeframes
- Being a dynamic team player with excellent written and verbal skills.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Experience & Skill Requirements
- BS in biological sciences, chemistry, clinical science or related field
- 4-6 years experience working as licensed personnel in a CLIA lab with increasing scope of responsibilities
- 3+ years working with Next Generation Sequencing technology.
- Demonstrated competency and understanding of fundamental principles of clinical laboratory procedures
- Hands-on training and experience with manual molecular biology protocols, including DNA extraction, PCR, and library preparation.
- 2+ years work experience with automation and liquid handlers.
- Experience revising or drafting SOPs.
- A current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License that meets requirements for Testing Personnel under CLIA regulations (42 CFR, part 493) (ASCP, CGMBS, or Generalist license is required)
Nice to haves:
- Experience in the early stage of establishing a CLIA/CAP clinical lab and with the launch of an initial LDT product.
- Previous experience with NGS method validations.
The annual base salary range for this position $140,000 to $155,000 USD. This range reflects only the base salary component of compensation and is provided in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements. Actual base salary will be determined at the Company’s discretion and may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.
