Overview

Engineering Manager, Care Solutions

We are seeking an experienced US-based engineering leader to mentor and grow multiple full-stack and backend teams building the next generation of our digital health management platform within Care Solutions.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with proven people leadership, with the ability to manage multiple engineering teams while driving technical excellence, cultivating a culture of innovation and ownership, and delivering measurable impact in a complex healthcare technology environment.

Areas of Responsibility:

People and Performance Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop 2 teams of 8 to 10 engineers spanning full-stack, backend, and cloud migration disciplines.

  • Conduct regular 1:1s, drive performance review cycles, and own career development planning for engineers across levels, from junior through staff.

  • Foster a growth mindset and encourage adoption of AI tools and agentic AI workflows to enhance team productivity and engineering velocity.

  • Hire, onboard, and retain top engineering talent who embody HealthEdge values.

  • Provide hands-on technical mentorship and guidance, helping engineers deepen their skills and expand their impact.

  • Build and maintain high-performing teams with clear goals, shared accountability, and a strong sense of ownership.

Technical Leadership

  • Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions across their teams, partnering closely with architects and senior engineers on complex technical challenges.

  • Oversee the technical design and implementation of scalable, robust solutions across Microsoft and Java ecosystems, including cloud migration to AWS.

  • Ensure code quality, engineering best practices, and adherence to coding standards through code reviews, technical governance, and continuous improvement.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their applicability to the Care Solutions platform roadmap.

Project Management and delivery

  • Plan, prioritize, and manage project timelines across multiple teams, ensuring on-time delivery of projects while maintaining the highest quality standards.

  • Break down complex initiatives into manageable milestones, managing dependencies and risks proactively.

  • Coordinate with Product Management to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps aligned with business goals and customer needs.

  • Collaborate with peer engineering teams, QA, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.

  • Communicate progress, challenges, and technical decisions clearly to stakeholders across the organization.

  • Establish and track engineering metrics to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

  • Manage on-call rotations, incident response processes, and the balance between feature development, technical debt, and platform stability.

  • Coordinate effectively across US and India-based teams, managing timezone differences and fostering knowledge sharing across global teams.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field of study (or equivalent experience).

  • Strong computer science fundamentals to understand and guide the team’s work.

  • 3+ years of experience as an engineering manager.

  • 5+ years of relevant technical expertise working as an individual contributor.

  • Experience with Microsoft and Java ecosystems.

  • Strong JavaScript development skills with experience in modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js).

  • Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL) and data modeling.

  • Expertise in AWS, GCP or Azure cloud technologies.

  • Expertise in engineering best practices like automated tests, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.

  • Experience leading Agile/Scrum ceremonies and driving projects from inception to delivery.

  • Experience managing distributed or multi-geography teams.

  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience leveraging AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) and guiding teams in using AI tools as productivity multipliers.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in healthcare technology, digital health platforms, or familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security standards.

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with event-driven architectures.

  • Background in building and scaling SaaS platforms.

  • Cloud platform certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure, or GCP).

**The annual US base salary range for this position is $185,000 to $202,000. This salary range may cover multiple career levels at HealthEdge. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process and is based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, your skills, experience, qualifications and education.
