The Associate Director, Azure / Databricks Data Engineering is a data-heavy business-focused role with a strong technical component and a mix of substantial hands-on Azure/ Databricks development responsibilities. The role will closely collaborate with IT and be responsible for architecting and developing processes that’ll convert raw operational data into organized, logical structures and schemas that house usable, meaningful, business-ready information. Partnering with IT on creating the data architecture, this role’s focus will be on leading business information architecture, specifically designing and developing the business information creation layer and business-facing semantic layers (domain-specific data marts) containing clinical and operational information points that the business can easily understand and readily use. The role will lead the architecture and development of and will be responsible for all processes that marry data across disparate systems, platforms, files, in addition to reconciliation, cleansing and integrity rules to create business information out of raw operational data.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Leading major strategic initiatives around information architecture and management, guiding information developers on how to best architect data acquisition, load, transformation, and exchange processes using Azure and or Databricks technology
  • Lead the design of schemas, tables and views that’ll store processed information through the bronze, silver and gold layers using a star schema approach.
  • Lead a small team of data engineers (future)
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand source data.
  • Develop and manage ETL or ELT processes in Azure Synapse, Databricks or similar workspace.
  • Provide recommendations on best practices in building a data lakehouse using Azure and Databricks
  • Create and manage lake house in Data bricks.
  • Provide timelines for projects and help break down the project into user stories using Azure Devops
  • Develop reusable components to reduce the development time and easy maintenance of the application.
  • Develop and manage automated test cases to improve data accuracy.
  • Ability to manage GIT repository and should be versed in CI/CD process. Responsible for code migration to higher environments.
  • Effectively address and resolve data quality, integrity, and accuracy issues

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in data and information management development, with a focus on converting operational data into actionable, insightful information
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Scripts, Views, and Stored procedures etc.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in any cloud technology (Azure, AWS and GCP)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Azure data bricks (lake house) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of working in Agile / Scrum environment.
  • Experience guiding developers on information architecture and design.
  • Being acutely hands-on, but also be able to lead the development and operational activities of more junior data engineers.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry preferred.

Salary/Wage base range for this role starts at $120,000.00 -$140,000 Bonus + Equity. WelbeHealth offers competitive total rewards package that includes, 401k match, healthcare coverage and a broad range of other benefits. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other qualifications.
