Your Mission

As our lead sales training expert, you will support the onboarding, development and implementation of educational programs for the Sales Team. The Learning and Development Specialist will also support enterprise-wide L&D Initiatives under the direction of the People Operations Manager, supporting overall operational success. This will be achieved via collaboration and ongoing partnerships with subject matter experts in different functions.

Within 1 month, you’ll:

  • Learn about our “YOUnison” Company-Wide Orientation Program in order to step-in and co-support its on-going design evolution and facilitation of the program.
  • Learn about Unison’s Products, our Homeowner Promise and how we currently sell to consumers in order to get a baseline understanding of our current state for future enhancements, overall effectiveness, and on-going development and deployment of key functional training and soft skill sales capability development.
  • Build relationships with our Sales Teams to understand their pain points, our key performance indicators (KPIS) and the type of training that is needed to achieve our mission, vision and values.
  • Build relationships with our People Team to understand our vision and programmatic goals that help us achieve our vision, mission, values that support our culture.
  • Connect frequently with the People Operations Manager to gain insight on enterprise-wide learning strategy and approach, and discuss learning initiatives that this position will lead and or support.

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • In partnership with the Sales Team, VP of Operations, and People Operations Manager build out, facilitate/co-facilitate and manage the end-to-end process for our onboarding training and certification.
  • Co-Maintain and enhance Learning & Development Enterprise-Wide portfolio of existing and emerging learning programs and interventions.
  • Provide insight and input into the design, development, implementation, and management of targeted programs.
  • Drive employee engagement, and inspire a high performance work culture.
  • Optimize delivery of training for in-person classroom and virtual environments with a strong focus on role-play, case studies, coaching and other methods to support application of skills and behaviors.
  • Regularly participate in meetings, requiring close interactions with various project stakeholders to develop advanced level knowledge in organizational processes, and applications.
  • Apply adult learning theories into practical, application-based learning strategies.
  • Work independently and lead projects to produce quality results in a fast-paced, rapidly scaling and dynamic work environment.
  • Incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion into all learning programs.
  • Research and define areas of opportunity for improvement across the team.

Within 6 months, you’ll:

  • Design training plans that escalate in complexity based on levels of experience and organizational hierarchy.
  • Gain knowledge of our sales tools and processes and begin discussing how best to optimize them.
  • Acts as an input to senior leadership to help identify organizational knowledge opportunities and recommend activities to close gaps.
  • Create sales training content using a variety of instructional tools and technology such as: google-sites, videos, blogs, newsletters, etc. in order to develop high-quality, and engaging learning materials.
  • Maintain a sales onboarding calendar and a library of training modules and make those available to managers and teams as needed.
  • Advise, coach and mentor sales team members on all aspects of their roles including product knowledge, industry trends, best practices, and competitive information.
  • Ensure that training requirements, attendance and training feedback are documented and tracked at the individual level and sales organizational level, in order to improve future training activities as well as to share results on a quarterly basis via an L&D Dashboard.
  • Research and leverage industry best practices and trends to enhance all Learning & Development initiatives.

About you

As an L&D practitioner, you actively work to understand strengths, identify opportunities to develop, embrace new ways of thinking, and apply added information and optimism for future learning. As a sales training expert, you are a first-class communicator and are able to draw on those skills to set the bar high and get team members to perform at their absolute best. You exemplify our values, have a drive to succeed, and your experience includes:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar or relevant role, developing, and executing learning, product, and knowledge management programs for a high growth company.
  • 3+ years’ experience in training sales representatives, sales managers, and sales operations employees.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent career expertise/experience in Sales Training and Learning & Development.
  • Experience building learning and education programs. You have regionalized, and delivered in brief time periods and designed and developed to build long-term skills and capabilities.
  • Adaptable and people centric: You have a strong willingness to learn and adjust to new people and environments.
  • Fast learner and capable of working with cross-functional teams and people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • An expert presenter and trainer, presenting information comfortably, compellingly, and articulately with an instinctive, intelligent command of the audience, data and medium.
  • Experience translating data and analytics to develop insights, telling stories, driving decisions, and measuring the impact.
  • Problem solving “grit”: You can successfully navigate a fast-paced, high-growth environment, excelling in the face of ambiguity, frequent change and feedback.
  • Effective with limited information or direction; comfortable with risk and uncertainty; self-directed and proactive.
