TraceLink is seeking a Cloud Operations Administrator I with a background in Red Hat / CentOS Linux familiar with J2EE web applications and Docker containers to join the Cloud Operations team supporting Tracelink’s Life Sciences Cloud products.

The Cloud Operations Administrator I is a key member of the team responsible for the operations, maintenance and monitoring of TraceLink’s cloud-based software providing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) products to the pharmaceutical and other industries. Operating entirely in the Amazon Web Services cloud, TraceLink’s Life Sciences Cloud consists of Linux servers, docker containers and java services. Building off a strong background in Linux, this person will manage systems, scripts and tools to keep Tracelink’s SaaS/PaaS products running at peak performance. As a member of the On-Call team, this person will rotate monthly between shifts serving US and India hours. As an agent in the Cloud Operations ticketing system, this person responds to requests for system configuration, user access and troubleshooting issues that occur within all LSC environments from Development to Production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational support of TraceLink’s Kubernetes, Docker and J2EE services operating in the AWS cloud platform, including the monitoring and management of systems and application health, security, performance, and metrics, as well as the implementation of any tools/scripts required to support these tasks.

  • Monitors and supports AWS EC2 instances, volumes and other services such as Kubernetes, Docker containers, Elasticsearch, S3, RDS, Elasticache, Redshift, DynamoDB through their entire lifecycle supporting multiple customer-facing and internal application environments.

  • Rotates on a monthly basis between India and US working hours to support an international team and respond to any system, application, or network issues that may arise.

  • Participates in an on-call rotation providing operational support during working and non-working hours.

  • Performs software releases, typically during non-working hours

  • Operates as an agent in the Cloud Operations ticketing system. This includes performing service configurations, providing logs, answering questions, and carrying out periodic maintenance tasks.

  • Follows documented operating procedures and runbooks to support Tracelink’s cloud-based products.

  • Configures TraceLink’s embedded EDI commercial solution providing AS2, SFTP and HTTP post file transfer.

  • Communicates with all parts of the TraceLink organization, in both verbal and written capacities.

  • Assists personnel from other departments in the company to ensure that they have the access and information that they need to perform their assigned tasks.

  • Weekend Support During On Call Week.

Required Skills:

  • 1 year of hands-on operational experience supporting J2EE web applications in a SaaS environment. Experience supporting other web application server technologies will be considered.

  • Possess a strong background in Linux/Unix systems administration including OS deployment, package management, user administration, networking, NTP, DNS and advanced troubleshooting.

  • A solid foundation in virtualization through the use of AWS EC2, VMWare, Xen, virtual box, etc.

  • Programming: Linux/BASH scripting skills and experience in at least one other common Linux scripting language (Perl, Python, PHP, Boto, Ruby) a plus.

  • Experience managing docker containers through Kubernetes highly desired

  • Tools: Experience with any of the following: Apache, nginx, haproxy clamav, rsyslogd, puppet/chef, SSH/SFTP, vi/vim/nano editors and related technologies.

  • BS Computer Science or related discipline.

  • Hands-on experience with EDI systems and file transfer protocols such as SSH/SFTP, AS2, etc.
