Position Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Scientist / Principal Scientist to lead and advance in vitro receptor pharmacology efforts across our internal drug discovery programs. This role will serve as a scientific owner for in vitro pharmacology capabilities, supporting GPCR-focused programs in metabolic diseases, including obesity and liver-related indications.

The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in either receptor pharmacology and/or metabolic disease biology, with the ability and interest to bridge disciplines through close collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide scientific leadership and ownership of in vitro receptor pharmacology strategies to support GPCR-driven drug discovery programs.
  • Design, develop, and optimize receptor binding assays, binding kinetics assays, and receptor de-sensitization assays to enable compound profiling and decision-making.
  • Establish and evolve in vitro pharmacology and biology competencies aligned with program platform needs.
  • Drive a strong understanding of target and disease biology, and integrate biological insights into assay design and data interpretation.
  • Generate, review, and interpret high-quality pharmacology data from internal studies and CRO partners, influencing project go/no-go and prioritization decisions.
  • Lead and manage CRO collaborations, ensuring scientific rigor, data quality, and timely delivery.
  • Communicate scientific findings clearly and effectively in internal project teams and at external scientific meetings.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Ph.D. in pharmacology, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field, with 2-year post-doctoral and/or industry research experience.
  • Demonstrated depth in at least one of the following areas:
    • Receptor pharmacology, preferably with class B GPCR targets
    • Metabolic disease biology, including obesity and/or liver-related diseases
  • Strong experience in designing, executing, and interpreting in vitro pharmacology assays or disease-relevant biological assays.
  • Proven ability to take scientific ownership, work independently, and drive projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with receptor binding assays and/or binding kinetics methodologies (e.g., TR-FRET, FP, radioligand binding assays, MST/SpS, SPR, sc-IC).
  • Prior experience supporting GPCR-focused drug discovery programs.
  • Experience managing CROs and external scientific collaborations.
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced biotech or pharmaceutical R&D environment.

Travel Required:

Occasional domestic or international travel may be required for scientific conferences or business needs.
