Position Summary:
Structure Therapeutics is recruiting a Scientist I position to become a key member of Shanghai drug discovery team. S(he) will have Doctorate degree in protein chemistry or structural biology and will be an enthusiastic contributor to our fast-paced interdisciplinary team advancing our groundbreaking technology platform applied to discovery of novel lead candidates for clinical development. S(he) will be responsible for maintaining and accelerating our structure-based drug discovery platform through direct interactions with collaborators and contract research organizations and hands-on engagement in projects to ensure efficient generation of key structural information. The individual will work closely as a team member with experienced medicinal chemistry and biology drug hunters and gain significant experience in the Structure Therapeutics drug discovery system.
As a key component in our integrative platform s(he) will also be responsible for analysis, organization and curation of primary data generated from structural biology and protein assay activities and integration of that information with medicinal chemists and biologists. In addition to world class technical capabilities the position will require the ability to communicate with cross-functional team members both locally and globally.
The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and scientific knowledge with expertise in protein chemistry, membrane protein crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy. Job Responsibilities:
- Implement company’s structural biology efforts through close coordination with research collaborators and CROs specifically in the generation of GPCR protein and ligand complex structures.
- Facilitate utilization of purified protein assays, functional and binding assays to support medicinal chemistry SAR efforts, directed mutagenesis to support computational chemistry.
- Contribute to growing knowledge base of membrane protein chemistry and structural biology through meticulous record keeping, data entry into various LIMs systems.
- Interpretation of structural information through close interactions with medicinal chemistry, CADD and biology team members.
Qualifications:
- D in biological science, protein chemistry or structural biology
- Experience in designing and implementing experiments in a logical and consistent manner.
- Strong desire to develop skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Highly motivated, results driven individual with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and willingness to work in geographically distributed teams.
- Ability to work cross functionally with CROs, academic labs and cross functional groups is essential to this role.
- Proactive, hands-on style, possessing strong motivation and individual drive.
