Position Summary:
Structure Therapeutics is seeking a (Senior) Scientist to join our drug discovery team as a key member. The ideal candidate will hold a Doctorate degree in structural biology and will be an enthusiastic contributor to our fast-paced interdisciplinary team. This team is dedicated to advancing our groundbreaking technology platform, with a focus on discovering novel lead candidates for clinical development.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strategic thinking abilities, and scientific knowledge, with specific expertise in protein chemistry, membrane protein cryo-electron microscopy.
Responsibilities for this position include maintaining and accelerating our structure-based drug discovery platform through hands-on engagement in projects to ensure efficient generation of crucial structural information.
As a crucial part of our integrative platform, the successful candidate will also be responsible for analyzing, organizing, and curating primary data generated from structural biology and protein assay activities, and s(he) will be required to integrate this information with medicinal chemists, computational chemists, and biologists.
Working closely as a team member with experienced drug hunters, the Scientist will gain significant experience in the Structure Therapeutics drug discovery system. This position presents a unique opportunity for the individual to make a major contribution to the success of a well-positioned growth stage US-China biopharmaceutical company.
Job Responsibilities:
- Implement company’s structural biology efforts through close coordination with research collaborators and CROs specifically in the generation of GPCR protein and ligand complex structures.
- Facilitate utilization of purified protein assays, functional and binding assays to support medicinal chemistry SAR efforts, directed mutagenesis to support computational chemistry.
- Contribute to growing knowledge base of membrane protein chemistry and structural biology through meticulous record-keeping, data entry into various ELN systems.
- Interpretation of structural information through close interactions with medicinal chemistry and biology team members.
Qualifications:
- D. in structural biology or biochemistry (preferred Cryo-EM on membrane proteins)
- Rich experience in construct design, insect/mammalian/bacterial expression and purification system of membrane/soluble proteins
- Industrial experience on cryoEM structure biology and/or structure-based drug design is a plus; equivalent postdoc experience is also a plus
- Strong desire to develop skills in a multidisciplinary environment
- Highly motivated, results driven individual with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and willingness to work in geographically distributed teams.
- Ability to collaborate. Working cross functionally with other groups, CROs, and academic labs is essential to this role.
- Proactive, hands-on style, possessing strong individual drive.
