Structure Therapeutics develops life‐changing medicines for patients using advanced structure‐based and computational drug discovery technology. The company’s platform combines the latest advancements in visualization of molecular interactions, computational chemistry, and data integration to design orally available, superior small molecule medicines that overcome current limitations of biologic and peptide drugs. We are advancing a clinical‐stage pipeline of differentiated treatments focused on chronic diseases with high unmet need, including cardiovascular, metabolic, and pulmonary conditions.

Structure Therapeutics is led by an experienced group of international drug innovators and financed by top-tier global life sciences investors. The company has completed an initial public offering (IPO) in February of 2023. With offices in California and Shanghai, Structure Therapeutics has the benefit of being at the center of life science innovation in both the US and China and capitalizing on the strengths of each geographic location.

Position Summary

The DEL (DNA-encoded library) group in the Molecular Interactions team, as part of the Platform Group at Structure Therapeutics, is seeking an experienced biochemist or molecular biologist to be responsible for overseeing DNA-encoded library selections against GPCR targets, for hit identification and optimization.

The incumbent will be responsible for the design implementation and execution of reagent qualification and pre-selection assays as well as DEL selections by interacting with multiple CROs as well as internal discovery teams. Your goal will be to ensure selections are well designed and executed, as well as the timely delivery of data and results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Based on the program needs and the particular characteristics of the receptor under study, design and oversee assays to validate the binding of relevant ligands to GPCRs.
  • Apply the experiences learned from assays to DEL selections, then design MOA-based DEL selections to increase the hit rate for hit identification.
  • Explore new DEL selection methods, for example membrane based or functional based selections.
  • Coordinate and communicate with local and possibly international CROs, to ensure reliable execution by partners and the delivery of well documented, high-quality data on time.
  • Analyze, interpret and report data to the internal teams.
  • Report findings at research and project meetings in a clear and concise manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field, with at least 3 years of experience
  • Strong preference for candidates with research experience on GPCR biology
  • Strong preference for candidates with early drug discovery experience in industry
  • Hands-on experience with one or more affinity-based assays or selection technologies
  • Proficient in using Excel and other data-processing tools
  • Critical thinking and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with team members
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts to a more general scientific audience
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking Mandarin and English
