Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Facilities Planner to support the strategic planning and operational management of our facilities, including office, laboratory, and production spaces. This role is responsible for space planning, preventative maintenance coordination, and overseeing facility-related projects, including planning for production equipment placement, infrastructure requirements, and maintenance schedules.

The Facilities Planner will collaborate with Facilities, Operations, and Production teams to optimize workspace utilization, manage vendor relationships, and ensure that both facility and production equipment needs are met efficiently. This position requires strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Facilities Planning & Space Utilization

  • Develop and maintain space planning strategies to support business growth and operational efficiency, ensuring adequate infrastructure for production equipment and lab operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess current and future space and equipment requirements.
  • Maintain updated facility layouts and space allocation documentation.
  • Coordinate with Facilities and Operations teams on office, lab, and production floor reconfigurations.

Preventative Maintenance & Asset Management

  • Develop and oversee preventative maintenance schedules for critical building systems, production equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Track and manage facility and production assets, ensuring compliance with maintenance and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in implementing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for efficient tracking of work orders, asset history, and production equipment upkeep.
  • Ensure safety and compliance protocols are met for all facility and production maintenance activities.

Project Management & Vendor Coordination

  • Assist with planning and execution of facility and production-related improvement projects, renovations, and relocations.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely completion of projects and maintenance activities.
  • Obtain quotes, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor performance for facility and production support services.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Facility & Production Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for facility and production equipment planning requests and issue resolution.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness procedures and equipment are in place and up to date for all facility and production areas.
  • Maintain facility and production documentation, including floor plans, maintenance logs, and compliance records.
  • Support environmental health and safety (EH&S) initiatives related to facility and production operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of facility planning, maintenance coordination, or a related role, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong project management skills with experience overseeing facility and production-related projects.
  • Proficiency in space planning software, CMMS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • General understanding of facilities, production equipment, and building systems.
  • Experience working with vendors, negotiating contracts, and managing service agreements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret facility and production data.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials up to 30 pounds as needed.

The estimated base compensation range for this role based in the United States of America is: $23.00-$25.00 hourly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly.
