Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley. This role is based in our Torrey Pines location.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Systems Integration Research Engineer 1, working at the center of our highly skilled and seasoned scientific and engineering teams, you will have the opportunity to experience a highly collaborative, cross-functional and multi-disciplinary work environment. Dynamic and fast-paced, you will stretch your abilities and grow with the guidance of Senior Staff leading the way.

  • Supporting instrument development and subsystem characterization.
  • Executing experiments in biophysics and surface chemistry.
  • Analyzing data using analytical tools (e.g., Excel, Python code, ImageJ), documenting and presenting results to the team.
  • Characterizing and troubleshooting hardware and software performance.
  • Preparing consumables and reagents for running experiments on a daily schedule.
  • Completing documentation to support testing procedures including data capture, forms, logbooks, and inventory batch records.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS or MS in Biomedical engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Strong experimental laboratory skills, demonstrated by work experience.
  • Experience in several of the following areas: fluorescence microscopy, micro-fluidics, bio-conjugation techniques, surface chemistry, DNA sequencing, programming language(s) and molecular biology.
  • Desire and ability to work in a small interdisciplinary team to develop new technologies at a rapid pace.

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $68,640 - $83,300. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
