Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley. This role reports to our HQ location.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented Senior Scientist with a strong track record of innovative problem-solving and delivering results. This role will be on the R&D Spatial Research Applications Team and the ideal candidate will develop and optimize in situ molecular biology assays in an interdisciplinary setting, engaging in both hands-on research and customer-facing activities. This role requires extensive expertise in molecular biology assay development, tissue processing and preferred experience with spatial biology assays/technologies and advanced imaging techniques. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to advancing our intellectual property and market-ready solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Experimental Planning, Execution, and Analysis: Design and conduct experiments to develop and optimize methods for mounting tissue samples, in situ molecular assays, and validating robustness.
- Communication and Presentation: Collaborate seamlessly with teams in chemistry, engineering, materials science, image analysis, and bioinformatics. Effectively convey results across various levels of the organization through clear, cohesive, and compelling presentations.
- Customer Engagement: work on customer service projects by designing optimal assays and ensuring that data aligns with project objectives. Deliver timely and accurate results to meet client expectations and project timelines.
- Literature and IP Advancement: Stay current on relevant literature and contribute to the development of intellectual property.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Educational Background: Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with at least 4-8 years of industry or postdoctoral experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality scientific research, as evidenced by a track record of exemplary scientific contributions.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex results clearly across interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, with outstanding customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:
- Proficient in molecular biology techniques (including method and reagent development), including NGS, nucleic acid analysis, and amplification methods.
- Expertise in fluorescence microscopy, Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization (FISH), and handling tissue sections.
- In-depth knowledge of spatial biology technologies and market landscape.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
- Deep understanding of spatial transcriptomics, including assay development and data analysis.
- Advanced skills in multiplexed protein imaging and tissue pathology.
- Strong bioinformatic analysis skills commonly used in spatial biology with the ability to analyze data using a wide range of tools
- Experience in immuno-oncology and tumor microenvironment research is highly desirable.
The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $112,800 - $153,400. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
