ABOUT SINGULAR GENOMICS

Singular Genomics is inventing at the forefront of genomics, one of the world’s fastest-growing industries. Our novel G4 benchtop sequencer is highly versatile and designed to rapidly produce accurate DNA sequencing results. And in development, the PX platform leverages Singular’s proprietary sequencing technology, applying it as a multi-omic in-situ readout for RNA and proteins for markets such as single cell and spatial analysis. Singular Genomics is committed to unlocking the potential of these core technologies to reshape the future of (gen)omics.

We foster a culture of creativity and technical excellence, both catalysts for innovation. We celebrate diversity, emphasize collaboration and, as we rapidly mature, we are constantly looking at ways we can do better for our people.

Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley. This role reports to our HQ location.

Position Summary:

As a Senior Research Associate, you will work with the Applications (Spatial Proteomics) team to support assay development by maintaining and slicing FFPE tissue blocks using our novel tissue mounting system, establish and further develop our antibody content onboarding process, and contribute to assay development efforts.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in FFPE tissue slicing and assessment using histochemical staining such as H&E, have a strong background in antibody staining (e.g., IHC, IF) using a variety of readouts (brightfield, fluorescence etc), and have experience following established complex assay workflows and contribute to their optimization. BSLII experience is beneficial but not necessary.

You will be working with a multidisciplinary team of scientists in the fields of surface chemistry, engineering, biochemistry and bioinformatics. This role is ideally suited to a candidate who is self-motivated and excited by a startup environment where opportunity to rise to frequent and diverse challenges is commonly encountered.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop panels of antibodies, DNA-conjugated antibodies, and FFPE tissues and cell pellets.
  • QC antibodies and FFPE tissues prior to inserting into assay development workflows.
  • Actively contribute to developing in situ workflows from ideation to product launch.
  • Careful experimental design and quality control methods for emerging technologies and products.
  • Development and optimization of new methods and products for assaying the spatial localization of protein and RNA within tissue.
  • Establish standards for onboarding multi-omic content for spatial profiling of biomolecules, with a priority on antibody content.
  • Collaboration and effective communication with team members in (surface) chemistry, biochemistry, systems integration, image analysis, and bioinformatics.
  • Maintain meticulous notes and databases of relevant reagents, experiments, equipment, and other processes.
  • Write and manage SOPs and other documentation.

Qualifications:

  • BSc. in Biochemistry/biomedical sciences or related field with 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with fluorescence microscopy.
  • Experience with immunofluorescence, immunohistology, etc.
  • Experience with complex in situ assays, such as multiplex immunostaining, multiplex FISH or similar technologies.
  • Experience with FFPE tissue cutting (e.g., microtome, cryostat etc.) and validating tissue quality using H&E or similar staining methods.

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $72,400 - $100,900. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
