Job Description

General Summary:

The Director, NA NPP leads all commercial preparedness activities for NA related to Povetacicept; a recently acquired program, Phase 3 ready investigational therapy, that has the potential to transform lives across multiple serious diseases. This includes insight generation, early launch planning for IgA nephropathy (IgAN) disease area, assessment and prioritization input for secondary indications, and robust plans to seamlessly transition launch planning to a new Business Unit when built. This role reports to the VP of NA NPP.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and sustain a high degree of disease and market knowledge in the NA region (US and Canada) to serve as a subject matter expert for Povetacicept; proactively generate rich local insights

  • Collaborate and partner closely with Global Commercial Strategy and other Global Commercial teams to define the commercial strategy for the Povetacicept program including competitive positioning and indication sequencing

  • Provide compelling strategic guidance and NA insights to Vertex’s cross-functional Global Commercial Team to shape and impact the trajectory of Povetacicept

  • Partner cross-functionally to provide input on evidence necessary before commercial successf in NA

  • Build out the initial launch strategy, organizational design, and resources needed to successfully commercialize Povetacicept in NA in partnership with HR, Finance, and other relevant cross-functional partners

  • Drive appropriate unbranded market education activities in NA to address key gaps pre-launch

  • Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders in NA

  • Collaborate with Global Commercial Teams to create Long Range Plans (LRP) and annual brand plans

  • Ensure the NA Leadership Team is updated on the progress of the pipeline programs and provides input on key decisions

  • Ensure the new US and Canadian Business Units are set up for success to launch Povetacicept; seamlessly onboard and transition all NA activities to those teams while they are being built

  • Other related duties as needed

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 10+ years of experience in biopharma in marketing, strategy, or consulting roles; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Additional preferred experiences:

    • Specialty product experience

    • U.S. product launch/in-line marketing experience

    • Pipeline strategy experience

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Commercialization expertise with a successful track record in shaping commercial strategies for pipeline products, creating a clear strategic story, and communicating that strategy to the wider Vertex organization.

  • Strategic thinker with strong operational execution on tactical initiative

  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional team setting (clinical, medical affairs, health economics, sales, managed markets, regulatory, legal, R&D, project management)

  • Results-oriented and excellent analytical, strategic, business planning, communication, and decision-making skills

  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, multi-task and self-prioritize workload

  • High ethical and professional standards with business contacts in order to maintain Vertex’s excellent reputation within the medical and pharmaceutical community

  • Focus on performing all company business in accordance with regulations and company policies and procedures

    Hybrid-Eligible Or On-Site Eligible

    Flex Eligibility Status:

    In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
    1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
    2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
