Senior Manager, Cell and Gene Therapy Supply Chain – Commercial Manufacturing & Supply Chain, Vertex Pharmaceuticals

Job Summary:

The Supply Chain Senior Manager independently performs a wide variety of activities supporting Vertex’s end-to-end process to supply patients from product order to delivery of final drug product and/or infusion. This requires daily follow-up and tracking of deliverables with clear, concise communication pathways under limited supervision. The Sr. Manager will work closely with key stakeholders including Finance, Regulatory, Commercial, Logistics, QA, MSAT and Manufacturing and will align with Global Supply Chain processes and tools.

This is a Hybrid position based in Paddington, London (3 days a week in the office are required).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively drive results through end-to-end accountability to move product throughout the supply chain and ultimately deliver product according to targets by consistently monitoring and following up on each step of the process
  • Attention to detail with a sense of urgency to deliver product for patients
  • Establish operational/teamwork processes, metrics, and tools to identify opportunities for efficiencies, and demonstrate agility negotiating and shifting priorities for overall objective and timeline adherence
  • Work with Supply Chain and Quality staff to collect, maintain and communicate product status and metrics.
  • Apply an understanding of the cross-functional areas of the organization within scope and gain familiarity with other functional areas and their interdependencies to deliver extraordinary service and build meaningful connections
  • Influence objectives across the Paddington site
  • Confirm completion and tracking of supply chain related documentation
  • Effectively manage own efforts on multiple projects
  • Identify roadblocks early, troubleshoot to remove, and communicate appropriately and often
  • Create SOP and Work Instructions for Supply Chain procedures.

Minimal Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business discipline preferred, or equivalent years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience of Biotech, Pharmaceutical or medical device company related work experience
  • Ability to analyze straightforward problems and develop possible solutions using technical experience and judgment; may escalate unusual or complex problems
  • Ability to effectively balance customer expectations with internal/team expectations
  • Exhibits robust knowledge across supply chain disciplines
  • Demonstrates strong aptitude for managing and motivating others and building team unity
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with high degree of effectiveness
  • High level understanding of GMP processes and regulatory requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to exchange relevant, and at times complex, information cross-functionally and ensuring understanding.

1. Remote: work remotely five days per week and come into the office on occasion – you’re always welcome on-site; or select

3. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
