The Vertex Internship Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Job Summary:

Structured under Biometrics, among many other responsibilities, Real World Analytics (RWA) is responsible to in-house database stewardship and providing analytic support to Real World Evidence (RWE). The RWA intern will work with RWA team and is responsible for projects that assigned by the team manager. The intern will have opportunity to learn and leverage Vertex in-house licensed databases to support team’s research needs and activities, such as explore and investigate methodologies that would apply to RWE research projects, as well as put together a tutorial database insight book that will give researchers better understanding of real-world data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the search of methodologies that related to the assigned projects.
  • Present the methodologies to the team, implement the methodologies to real-world data, ensure the implementation is transferable to similar datasets.
  • Investigate the pro and con of different types of real-world databases, develop database insight book, present the insight book to the team.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing Master or higher degrees in analytics, public health, data science, or other related subject area.
  • Previously experience of handling healthcare data.
  • Knowledge of relational database management system (RDBS).
  • Hands-on skills of SAS programming, SQL, R or Python.
  • Good organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and team player.
  • Ability to work effectively in a constantly changing, diverse, and matrix environment.
