General Summary:
The Marketing Technology team is playing a crucial role in enabling our commercial expansion as Vertex commercializes into new disease areas and brings more transformative medicines to patients around the world.
As the Marketing Automation Solution Architect, you are responsible for the design of secure, scalable, and reliable solutions that interpret data-driven behavioral triggers and orchestrate cross-channel activities to drive engagement by providing personalized customer experience across various channels.
You translate business requirements into technical deliverables that guide implementation including reference architecture, functional specifications and tech ready acceptance criteria for user stories. You will support the overall marketing automation strategy by defining the architecture that implements data-first best practices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Understand the business need and provide the solution architecture that best addresses the technical and business requirements
Be the trusted advisor to our business engagement leaders, and the broader cross functional teams
Provide technical effort estimates and timelines
Lead the technical implementation of new Marketing automation solutions
Lead the development teams responsible for the implementation of marketing automation services
Develop technical integration approaches, including data flow and architectural diagrams/visuals; deliver integration architecture strategies that can span Marketing Automation, CRM and Service platforms
Develop customized presentations, demonstrations, and prototypes
Define and implement innovative, data-driven marketing automation capabilities that enable Vertex to scale and enter new disease areas
Implement, and sustain key global marketing technology platforms including Customer Data Platform (CDP), Marketing Automation, Content Management and Digital Asset Management to support omnichannel engagement strategies and optimal digital experience
Partner with other Data, Technology and Engineering functions to ensure marketing data integrity, security and compliance
Develops future state marketing automation blueprints that meet strategic business objectives and ensure the appropriate level of quality. Develops roadmaps to meet these objectives.
Knowledge and Skills:
Practical knowledge of best practices in data integration, marketing automation and security
General knowledge of data privacy, regulation and data collection best practices
Proven ability to stay abreast of industry and technology trends
Advanced knowledge of API’s and integration services
Expert knowledge of customer data platforms and master data management
Expert knowledge in marketing automation architecture
Advanced problem solving and design skills
Customer service orientation
Excellent communication skills; especially for explaining complex topics
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, software engineering or other related technology degree.
Typically requires 8 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years of experience as an IT Architect or Business Analyst, with a track record in designing and implementing enterprise marketing automation solutions (e.g. SFMC, Marketo, Eloqua)
Strong analytical skills, structured approach to problem solving, and desire to continuously explore new technologies.
Ability to adaptively communicate with developers, other architects, management as well as business stakeholders
Experience implementing myriad of technologies and platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Snowflake, Customer Identity and Access Mgmt, Veeva Digital Asset Management (DAM)
Agile - Experience working within and leading in an AGILE team framework
Ability to clearly articulate requirements, identify gaps, mitigate issues, and reach consensus within a Sales and Marketing technology ecosystem
Life Science or Pharmaceutical Industry experience preferred
