Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is for an on-site Program Manager in the Global Security department based at Vertex’s corporate headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts.

The candidate must possess expertise in managing programs, projects, people, processes, and technology. Excellent communications, organizational skills, creativity in problem solving, and adapting to changing priorities, are required for success in this position.

This role will help implement an effective global security program to mitigate risk and safeguard Vertex’s people and assets. This role will work across Global Security operations with a focus on project and program management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Intelligence gathering preparing for global expansion.

  • Enhancement to insider threat programs.

  • Global security analysis to prepare and present briefings.

  • Physical security assessment program including international critical vendors.

  • Work closely with internal and external planning committees and client groups.

  • Coordinate with various site management and leadership to improve physical security operations.

  • Identify, analyze, prioritize, communicate, and mitigate risks.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously to successful outcomes.

  • Develop, implement, and manage security programs including Hostile Intruder.

  • Promote security awareness across the organization, developing training, and security driven communications.

  • Maintain Global Security presence on company intra-web, training curriculums, and corporate communications.

  • Write policies, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and other supporting materials.

  • Able to interact with senior executives with confidence and discretion.

  • Cultivate change and innovation by seeking opportunities to strengthen and improve existing services and operations.

  • Provide and promote high standards of professionalism, integrity, and leadership, both within and outside the organization, appropriately representing Vertex core values, business philosophies, and protocols.

  • Ability to work at a fast pace on multiple projects of a critical nature.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required.

  • 5+ years in Biotech or similar corporate position

  • Proven project management experience required.

  • The candidate must be able to build and maintain strong, cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders and be a trusted team leader.

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in managing complex people, processes, and technical projects.
