Job Overview:

The Agile Scrum Program Manager will play a key leadership role in overseeing and coordinating multiple Agile Scrum teams to ensure the successful execution of complex, cross-functional software projects. The ideal candidate has experience managing 6 to 10 scrum masters and program managers. This role will involve working closely with Product Management, Engineering, and other key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with our business goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Agile methodologies, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:



Program Management:

Lead and manage multiple Scrum teams across different projects, ensuring all teams are aligned with overall program objectives and timelines. Develop and maintain program roadmaps, ensuring that all dependencies, risks, and blockers are identified and mitigated proactively. Coordinate across functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality software that meets both business requirements and customer needs. Facilitate communication between engineering, product, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on objectives, scope, and deliverables.

Agile Leadership:

Act as the Scrum Master for multiple Scrum teams, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to Scrum Masters and team members. Ensure Scrum ceremonies (Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives) are executed efficiently and effectively across teams. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment by removing roadblocks and ensuring teams are empowered to take ownership of their work.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Regularly communicate program status, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership and key stakeholders. Establish strong working relationships with Product Owners, ensuring product requirements are clearly defined, prioritized, and understood by the development teams. Manage stakeholder expectations, ensuring that delivery timelines are realistic and well-communicated.

Continuous Improvement:
Promote Agile best practices across teams and continuously improve the Agile processes and delivery methods. Conduct retrospectives to identify areas of improvement and implement actionable solutions to optimize team performance. Encourage innovation, learning, and the adoption of new tools and techniques to improve program efficiency and outcomes.

Risk and Issue Management:

Proactively identify risks and issues related to program execution and work with teams to develop mitigation strategies. Monitor program progress, track metrics, and adjust plans as necessary to ensure successful delivery.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain clear and concise documentation related to program and project status, meeting notes, and key decisions. Provide regular status reports and dashboards to executive leadership, including updates on timelines, milestones, and overall program health.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

○ 12+ years of experience managing software development programs or projects in an Agile environment. At least 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach for Scrum teams. Proven track record of successfully delivering SaaS or cloud-based software products.

Agile Expertise:

In-depth understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc.), with hands-on experience leading teams through Agile transformations and process improvements. Certification as a Scrum Master (CSM, PSM) and/or Agile Program Management (SAFe, PMI-ACP, etc.) preferred.

Leadership & Communication:

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate teams, build strong relationships, and manage stakeholders at all levels. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking:

Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations, identify root causes, and take decisive action. Proactive in managing risks and resolving issues before they impact delivery.

Tools & Technology:

Experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Rally, VersionOne, or similar). Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and cloud-based development tools and environments is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced SaaS environment. Background in working with remote or distributed teams. Experience with large-scale Agile transformations across organizations. Familiarity with product development lifecycles and software development best practices.
