Co-Op Assignment Overview

Prime Medicine is seeking a co-op for the Spring 2024 semester with experience in Biology to join the Auditory and Ocular team. The qualified candidate will work with a highly collaborative fast-paced project team to validate promising Prime Editors and to build assays for auditory and ocular indications. In this position, you will learn cell and molecular biology skills and develop a deep understanding of gene editing and auditory and ocular biology.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Aseptic cell culture including passaging and transfection
  • Isolation of genomic DNA, RNA, and protein from cell culture samples
  • Isolation of genomic DNA, RNA, and protein from Auditory and Ocular tissue
  • Assist with evaluation of samples for evidence of Prime Editing using various techniques including NGS, ddPCR, qPCR, and ELISAs
  • Data analysis, interpretation, and presentations within the team

Qualifications:

  • B.S. candidate in Cell & Molecular Biology or related major
  • Basic knowledge of molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with basic molecular biology assays (DNA extraction, PCR etc)
  • Hands-on experience with cell culture is preferred
  • Familiarity with excel and PowerPoint for data analysis
  • Independently motivated, detail-oriented, and excellent problem-solving abilities
