About the role:

In the Engineering team at Owkin, you will be at the heart of our mission to accelerate research at scale. You will contribute to building and maintaining a robust research platform that enables our data scientists and researchers to focus on what matters most - advancing scientific discoveries.

In particular, you will:

  • Coordinate the full lifecycle of system administration and site reliability engineering (SRE) at the team level.
  • Manage and contribute to a team of 6 engineers, including responsibilities for recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
  • Define, implement, and advocate for SRE best practices across both the team and the broader organization.
  • Provide technical mentorship and foster the professional growth of team members.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, managing communication around priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Ensure high-quality, timely delivery of projects and services that meet business and technical requirements.
  • Oversee operational support for production systems, including incident management and participation in on-call rotations (between once every 6 and 8 weeks).
  • Facilitate and contribute to architectural and technical decision-making in collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners (AWS, contractors, SaaS providers).
  • Lead and support complex, multi-system deployments and manage autonomous technical initiatives.

About you

Required qualifications / experience:

  • 7+ years of industry experience with a Masters or BS degree, in computer science, software engineering or an associated field with 2+ years in management roles
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts to various stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills with ability to lead multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Fluency in English is a prerequisite; additional language skills in French would be preferred
  • Strong experience with a major cloud provider (some experience with AWS is a requirement)
  • Expertise in Terraform, Kubernetes and Ansible
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining on-premises environments
  • Good knowledge of Linux environment (system, security and network)
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (FluxCD, ArgoCD, Github actions, …)
  • Experience with logging, monitoring and alerting stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, …)
  • Experience in cyber security and applicable standards (in particular ISO 27001)

  • Kubernetes and/or public cloud certification
  • Experience with maintaining high uptime services
  • Experience building software in a high level language, such as Python
