About the role:

The VP of Product, Owkin Dx leads product vision, strategy and development for our Diagnostics (Dx) business. Working closely with Dx Commercial and Engineering and reporting to the Chief Diagnostics Officer, he/she will drive the creation of AI-powered medical devices from conception to market launch, ensuring our products not only meet but exceed client needs, user expectations and technical standards. The initial focus will be digital pathology in vitro diagnostics, as well as research use products for digital pathology images.

In particular, you will undertake:

Product Strategy & Vision:

  • Develop and articulate a clear, compelling product vision and strategy that aligns with the Owkin’s overall business objectives and market opportunities. Communicate this to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identify emerging trends and market opportunities in AI for digital pathology, machine learning, and related technologies to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation. Keep abreast of the regulatory landscape across several markets.
  • Define and prioritize the product roadmap, balancing long-term vision with short-term deliverables.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing product management team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight across all stages of the product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and ongoing iteration.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration to ensure product development aligns with engineering, data science, design, marketing, and regulatory & quality assurance (to navigate the complex landscape of medical device approvals).

Product Development & Execution:

  • Work closely with engineering and data science teams to assess feasibility of product vision, provide input for technical implementation, define technical requirements and ensure timely, high-quality product releases.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, pain points, and behaviors through research, analytics, and direct interaction, translating these insights into product features and enhancements.
  • Drive product innovation by identifying new opportunities for AI applications, from incremental improvements to breakthrough technologies.

Market & Customer Focus:

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to stay ahead of industry trends and ensure our products remain competitive.
  • Engage directly with pathologists, healthcare providers and pharmas to understand and anticipate their needs and pain points, validate product concepts, and build strong relationships that inform product development - in collaboration with Pharma BD and Dx commercial teams.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop effective go-to-market strategies and ensure successful product launches.

Performance & Growth:

  • Set and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success, including user engagement, customer satisfaction, and revenue growth.
  • Continuously evaluate product performance, making data-driven decisions to optimize features, pricing, and positioning.
  • Drive growth and scalability by identifying new markets, customer segments, and strategic partnerships.

Position is based in our Paris or London offices.

About you

Qualifications / experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in product roles or similar functions with a strong preference to experience in both Europe and North American markets
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a biomedical field; advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in the healthcare, in vitro diagnostics, digital pathology, and/or AI industries is highly desirable
  • Proven track record of managing complex product development projects from concept to launch
  • Strong understanding of clinical research, regulatory requirements, and healthcare market dynamics
  • Strong technical background with the ability to understand and contribute to engineering discussions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical devices
