About the role:

\n

The company is seeking to hire an MD (Medical Doctor) as Medical Oncology Lead - Early Development to strengthen its growing biomedical department and enhance the company’s oncology research and development activities.

\n

Reporting to the Head of Oncology, you’ll:

\n
    \n
  • Work with cross-functional specialists across Owkin’s partnership, research & development, and commercial functions to develop and implement medical and scientific strategies for the development of the company’s portfolio of innovative drugs for oncology;
    • \n
  • Stimulate innovation of improvements, combinations, and new therapeutic modalities of the company’s current technology and build the IP portfolio;
    • \n
  • Expand the company’s external research collaboration programs within Oncology;
    • \n
  • Improve the company’s global scientific input strategy to gain external scientific/clinical insights and competitive intelligence in support of the company’s research & development strategy;
    • \n
  • Sustain the company’s scientific credibility by fostering and developing relationships with current and future collaborators including global scientific industrial and academic leaders, and key professional societies and organizations, through relevant bi-directional scientific exchange;
    • \n
  • Guide development of consistent and accurate scientific content in support of the company’s cross-functional projects
    • \n
  • Provide scientific advice and support in interactions with external stakeholders;
    • \n
  • Maintain personal expertise in cancer therapy & science to gain external scientific insights in support of our company’s Research and Development strategy;
    • \n
  • Integrate and collaborate closely with all other teams and in particular Business Development, R&D, Federated Data Network, Strategic Operations, and Diagnostics;
    • \n
  • Communicate highly complex projects and make sure all key stakeholders are fully informed and knowledgeable of project activities and their status.

\nRequirements for the role:

The ideal Medical Oncology Lead - Early Development will have a successful track record in scientific pre-clinical, translational, and/or clinical research, with a proven scientific career focused within oncology. You will be familiar with clinical research and commercial drug development, and ideally bring expertise in leading pre-clinical and translational research activities for oncological indications to the clinic.

\n

It would be preferential that the Medical Oncology Lead - Early Development be based in Europe with the flexibility to travel when necessary.

\nIdeal Profile:
    \n
  • \nMD in Medical Oncology (or PharmD with robust academic research background) with a PhD or equivalent tracked experience in Tumor Biology or related fields;\n
    • \n
  • \nExperienced and published profile within Oncology;\n
    • \n
  • \nExperience in Clinical Research;\n
    • \n
  • Some industry experience and/or drug development is a plus;
    • \n
  • Able to analyze and conceptualize a strategy with skills to influence, set direction, generate alignment, as well as balance short-and-long-term needs;
    • \n
  • Prior experience in foster and develop relationships with external partners;
    • \n
  • Highly intellectually capable with agility and resourcefulness;
    • \n
  • Resourceful, motivated, decisive and proactive; able to prioritize in a fast-growing organization;
    • \n
  • Excellent facilitation and consultative skills; ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders, and to positively influence decision making;
    • \n
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (written and verbal), and results-oriented project management skills;

  • Ability to work successfully under minimal supervision, determine personal work plan, and operate independently;
