Job Title: Senior DevOps Lead Engineer
Role Overview
1. Lead critical DevOps initiatives and own at least one major DevOps charter.
2. Apply strong hands-on expertise in DevOps, cloud, automation, CI/CD, and reliability engineering.
3. Work across diversified environments including in-house systems, cloud, hybrid, and customer-hosted restricted networks.
4. Architect scalable and secure solutions adaptable to varying infrastructure landscapes.
5. Influence engineering direction and ensure consistent DevOps practices across multiple deployment models.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and own a DevOps charter such as CI/CD modernization, cloud platform engineering, observability, SRE, DevSecOps, or developer experience platforms.
2. Define strategy, roadmap, KPIs, and execution plans for the assigned DevOps area.
3. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level DevOps engineers.
4. Collaborate with development, QA, architecture, cloud, and security teams to align cross-functional initiatives.
5. Promote DevOps culture, automation-first principles, and shift-left practices across the organization.
Responsibilities Across Diversified Infrastructure Environments
1. Support, design, and evolve DevOps solutions for both internal and customer-hosted environments.
2. Work on internal platforms such as Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD ecosystems, observability systems, and automation frameworks.
3. Manage DevOps operations in customer environments - AWS, Azure, GCP, hybrid setups.
4. Build deployment pipelines and automation that comply with customer restrictions such as compliance mandates, network constraints, and secured cloud accounts.
5. Collaborate with customer engineering and operations teams to enable reliable deployments, observability, and ongoing support.
6. Develop reusable automation templates and deployment patterns that ensure consistency across diverse infrastructure setups.
Hands-On DevOps Engineering Responsibilities
1. Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or Azure DevOps.
2. Architect infrastructure using Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or similar IaC frameworks.
3. Implement and operate Kubernetes clusters in internal and customer-controlled environments.
4. Automate provisioning, configuration, and operations using Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or SaltStack.
5. Implement DevSecOps workflows including security scanning, secrets management, policy-as-code, and compliance automation.
6. Build and support monitoring, logging, and tracing systems such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, or OpenTelemetry.
7. Enhance system reliability through SRE practices including incident response, RCA, SLO/SLI management, and resilience engineering.
Required Skills and Experience
1. 8 to 12+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, cloud engineering, or platform engineering.
2. Strong foundation in Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, networking, and security fundamentals.
3. Expertise in AWS (preferred), with experience also valued in Azure and GCP.
4. Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
5. Experience supporting customer-hosted environments with varied access and security constraints.
6. Excellent communication skills for engaging stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams.
7. Proven ability to lead complex DevOps initiatives with end-to-end ownership.
Bonus Skills
1. Experience with platform engineering, internal developer portals, and golden paths.
2. Familiarity with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
3. Experience with FinOps or cloud cost optimization.
4. Exposure to regulated environments, isolated networks, or large enterprise deployments.
