Role Purpose:

As a Staff Frontend Engineer on our Mystra platform, you’ll own the technical and architectural strategy for our core frontend application, shaping how complex scientific insights are translated into a world-leading, high-performance user experience. You’ll design and implement the frameworks that power chat-driven, agentic AI interfaces, bringing the Mystra vision to life through intuitive, scalable, and agentic UI.

Sitting at the intersection of engineering, product, and design, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the Mystra platform delivers a truly world-class experience. Your work will directly influence user adoption, product performance, and the commercial success of Mystra, helping Genomics redefine how discovery happens in health and life sciences.

A Day in the Life:

• Own and evolve the Mystra frontend architecture, designing and leading the implementation of a scalable, high-performance system built in React and TypeScript.

• Build world-class visualisation tools that render massive genomic datasets with precision, responsiveness, and speed.

• Integrate agentic AI capabilities, creating seamless, chat-driven, interactive workflows that push the boundaries of what’s possible on the web.

• Partner closely with Product and Design to translate complex requirements into elegant, performant solutions that delight users.

• Lead by example, setting the standard for code quality, testing, and performance through mentorship, reviews, and technical excellence.

• De-risk delivery by identifying performance bottlenecks early, ensuring the team consistently ships powerful, reliable experiences.

Key Focus Areas:

• Deep expertise in modern frontend architecture, including React, TypeScript, state management (e.g. Zustand), and performance optimisation.

• Proven experience building and scaling high-performance, data-intensive UIs, handling large datasets and real-time visualisation.

• Ability to set and drive technical roadmaps, balancing short-term product delivery with long-term scalability and maintainability.

• Strong collaboration skills, adept at partnering with Product and Design to define, prioritise, and deliver ambitious features.

• Confident communicator who can articulate architectural decisions, mentor peers, and influence best practices across teams.

• Experience developing agentic or AI-enhanced user interfaces.

• Exposure to life sciences, biotech, or health tech environments.

• A passion for applying engineering to improve human health and accelerate scientific discovery.

The Team

You’ll join a highly collaborative team of engineers, a product designer, and a UX researcher, all driven by ownership, initiative, and a shared focus on delivery. You’ll work closely with the Director of Engineering and Product Director to shape the future of Mystra and ensure it delivers world-class user experiences.
