About the role:
We are searching for a highly motivated and organized Medical Support Manager to oversee the Nurses and Medical Assistants at Equip. This position will support a wide range of medical functions by providing direction to medical support staff as well as ongoing oversight and supervision. The goal of this role is to ensure that our nurse and MA processes maximize efficiency in support of the medical/psychiatric provider team. The Manager will report directly to the Medical Director (East), and collaborate closely with the Director of Practice Management, the Med Director (West), and Psychiatric director to ensure smooth medical operations, processes, and workflows cross-functionally. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing medical support staff, as well as familiarity with practice management, organizational processes, practice optimization, pre-visit planning, post-visit care coordination and, in addition to strong people management and supervision skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and supervise the Nursing and Medical Assistant teams
  • In close collaboration with the Practice Management team, help create and oversee Equip’s medical practice related to clinical workflows working to improve efficiency
  • Oversee the Nurse and MA productivity, staff-level performance, and hiring and onboarding
  • Develop strategic processes for optimizing clinical support for medical and psychiatric providers, in collaboration with the Practice Management team and Product team (for example, by optimizing medically-related practices, such as electronic prescribing, medical messaging, and lab services)
  • Supervise Nurses's and MAs in care collaboration and communication with outside providers, hospitals, and facilities as appropriate, particularly for medically complex patients
  • Collaborate and communicate directly and effectively with medical and psychiatric providers to organize and ensure smooth operations
  • Train, supervise, and effectively manage support staff in assisting medical and psychiatric providers with urgent escalations to higher level of care (for example, when a patient requires inpatient medical stabilization)
  • Hold regular medical support staff meetings and 1:1s with direct reports to communicate policies, expectations, and receive feedback
  • Maintain/Develop a scalable staffing and hiring model for the RNs and MAs to best support the work of the Medical/Psychiatric care team
  • Oversee RNs and MAs in navigating and triaging patient/family messages, coordinating medication refills, and communicating with patients/families on provider behalf as needed, particularly for medically acute patients
  • Collaborate with the Product team to guide development of an Electronic Medical Records system that will meet the demands for providing quality care and necessary communication for all Med-Psych providers in a busy virtual practice
  • Collaborate with the Data Team to assure medical documentation is more easily trackable and accessible

Requirement:

  • 5+ years of experience working as a Clinical Support Supervisor or Manager (or similar) in a clinical setting with medical providers and/or clinical support staff
  • Extensive experience in cross functional management with providers of varying specialities or disciplines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated abilities in people management
  • Strong organizational, strategic, and problem solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to pivot to other potential tasks
  • Telehealth experience preferred
  • Enthusiastic, strong team player a must
