Headquartered in San Francisco with a 120+ member team across the US and India, we're building the future of data-centric AI for drug discovery. Our flagship AI-agentic platform, Polly, helps research teams wrangle, harmonize, and analyze massive volumes of biomedical data- accelerating discoveries and making precision medicine a reality.
Recognized by Fast Company as the “Most Innovative Biotech Company of 2024,” Elucidata partners with 25+ leading organizations, including Pfizer, Novo Nordisk, Google DeepMind, Alnylam Therapeutics, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Research Institute. We are backed by top investors including Eight Roads, F-Prime, IvyCap, and Hyperplane.
With over 200 data products and AI solutions co-developed by 100+ domain experts, we've helped our partners achieve 4X faster R&D milestones and contribute to 16 therapies advancing toward FDA approval. At Elucidata, you'll work at the intersection of AI, biology, and impact - solving real-world challenges that accelerate the journey from data to discovery.
About the Role
The Senior Scientific Manager will lead the technical delivery of multi-omics and AI-driven solutions for our BioPharma and biotech customers on top of Elucidata's Polly platform. You will own customer relationships, lead a team of scientists and set the technical direction for how complex biomedical data is turned into decisions our customers can act on.
You will lead work that integrates multi-omics with clinical, literature and genetic evidence often through knowledge graphs to answer the target discovery and validation questions our customers care about and bring LLMs to bear where they make that work faster and sharper. Partnering closely with Solution Managers and the GTM team, you will turn a deep read of customer pain points into new opportunities, driving upsell and cross-sell across your accounts. Success looks like growing, delighted accounts and a high-performing team that customers trust with their hardest problems.
What You'll Own
- Delivery leadership: own the end-to-end technical delivery of customer engagements - scoping, experimental design, analysis, interpretation, and final deliverables - ensuring scientific rigor, reproducibility, and on-time, on-budget execution.
- Technical direction: set the analytical approach for complex engagements, integrating multi-omics with clinical data to answer customer target-discovery and validation questions.
- Team building: recruit, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of bioinformaticians and data scientists; review analyses, set technical standards and develop careers.
- Customer partnership: serve as the primary scientific point of contact for your accounts; understand each customer's biology, workflows, and pain points, and translate them into robust solutions on Polly.
- Account growth: partner with Solution Managers and the GTM team to identify, shape, and win upsell and cross-sell opportunities; contribute to scoping, SOWs, and technical proposals.
- Innovation & feedback: stay ahead of emerging methods in target discovery and AI-driven drug discovery, bring them into customer work, and feed learnings back to Product and R&D to shape the platform.
- Delivery governance: own resourcing, timelines, risk and stakeholder communication across your portfolio of engagements.
- Scientific voice: represent Elucidata externally through workshops, demos, presentations, publications, and conferences.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Education & experience: PhD with 5+ years, or Master's with 7+ years, of industry experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Customer & delivery leadership: proven track record owning customer relationships and leading customer-facing delivery to successful, on-time outcomes.
- People leadership: experience building and managing interdisciplinary technical teams of scientists, bioinformaticians, and data scientists.
- Multi-omics depth (baseline): Should be a quick learner and have hands-on command of multi-omics NGS analysis - bulk and single-cell transcriptomics, spatial technology, genomics and integrative multi-omics - applied to target discovery.
- Technical leadership beyond multi-omics: able to lead the integration of multi-omics with other biomedical evidence - clinical/real-world data and literature - to answer real scientific questions for customers.
- Human-genetics evidence for target validation: hands-on with genetic support for targets - GWAS/burden testing, Open Targets–style genetic evidence to prioritize and de-risk targets.
- Applied LLMs: has used or led LLM-based projects, applied to real scientific or delivery problems
- Programming: strong hands-on ability in R and Python.
- Communication: excellent stakeholder-management skills; able to translate complex science for both technical and business audiences.
- Commercial mindset: comfortable spotting and shaping upsell/cross-sell opportunities alongside GTM and Solution Managers.
Good to Have
- Hands-on knowledge graphs for target discovery: designed biomedical graph data models that embed heterogeneous evidence - multi-omics, clinical/real-world, literature and genetic data; applied graph algorithms and graph ML (KG embeddings, GNNs) for link prediction and target prioritization; built evidence-integration and target-scoring frameworks on top.
- Perturbation biology & modeling: experimental (CRISPR screens, Perturb-seq) and/or computational perturbation-prediction / virtual-cell approaches.
- LLM engineering depth: building RAG, agentic, or fine-tuned/evaluated LLM workflows on biomedical data.
- Scalable infrastructure: AWS/cloud and containerized pipelines (Docker; Nextflow/Snakemake).
- Publications: a strong publishing record in peer-reviewed journals.
