We’re a 20-person cybersecurity company that protects more than a billion users from fraud and abuse for customers like Canva, Lovable, Atlassian, and Rockstar Games. We’ve gotten far by staying lean and automating aggressively, but as we look to double headcount, and as much of the operating work still sits with founders and leadership, we need a clear owner for day-to-day operations.

The three “modes” of our operations

  • Mode A - operating work - Recurring or one-off company work that currently gets handled “on the side” and is hard to automate. You own it end to end, with more care and precision than a rushed handoff. You also leave it better by documenting the happy path and suggesting ways to automate at least parts of it.
  • Mode B - decision packaging - You’re the layer between a vendor or partner and a busy founder. You clarify the timeline and urgency with the other side, turn a messy ask into a short brief or a 15-minute working session, get the decision, and then close the loop yourself.
  • Mode C - leadership judgment (growth potential, but not today) - Pricing; people decisions; novel legal or tax calls; bank signatory responsibilities; and culture. Founders and leadership own these today. You may support more of this later, but it’s not what we’re hiring for first.

What have you done before

Primary:

  • Finance, tax, and vendor administration - work with our accounting firm and other providers; turn unclear requests into facts, documents, deadlines, and decisions; AP, filings, packets before a founder signature
  • Commercial chase and paperwork - after Lisa sets the commercial path: order forms, invoices, DocuSign, purchase orders, customer portals, collections on clear overdue balances, renewal calendar and “waiting on” hygiene

Secondary:

  • Benefits and insurance - brokers, carriers, enrollment, renewals, the chase until coverage is real
  • Office, travel, and physical execution - vendors, equipment, shipping, logistics that need a reliable owner

Bonus:

  • People and recruiting logistics - onboarding through the early checkpoints, interview coordination, offer logistics. We’ll need you execution powers here, but it’s fine if this isn’t something you have experience in.

How you work

You’ve owned messy operating threads at a small B2B company, and you’re comfortable working with busy founders and executives who only have 15 minutes to give you enough to finish the work, or at least run one more iteration.

You’re precise. Speed that creates rework isn’t speed. If a founder used to take 15 min to answer a tax questionnaire, you’re expected to take 3x that time to ensure it’s answered properly.

You keep work visible in Linear/Asana or similar - owners, dates, next actions - so that leadership and AI can see what’s moving without reconstructing context.

You communicate directly with external parties. You don’t wait to be managed through every step, but you also know when to drop a quick question in Slack to ensure you don’t make an error that’ll take even more time to unwind.
