Position Summary:

We’re looking for a highly skilled and motivated SRE to join our team. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in complex systems and takes pride in building reliable, scalable infrastructure while seamlessly integrating quality assurance practices. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a drive to take ownership of the reliability and performance of the Switch product.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the reliability, scalability, and quality of the Switch product, driving improvements across infrastructure, monitoring systems, and testing frameworks.

  • Design, implement, and maintain diverse testing methodologies, including unit, regression, stress/load, security, and chaos testing, as an integral part of the development lifecycle.

  • Build automated systems that validate all possible interactions, enabling seamless integration into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Collaborate with and optimize critical infrastructure components such as Strongswan, ensuring robust performance in production environments.

  • Execute reliability initiatives, including stress testing, fault injection, and scaling assessments, to strengthen operational resilience.

  • Implement and maintain monitoring and observability tools to identify, analyze, and react to performance and reliability trends in real-time.

  • Partner with engineering and product teams to align testing strategies with broader architectural goals, providing insight and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Work hands-on with Linux/Unix systems, AWS infrastructure, and networking concepts to ensure seamless performance and troubleshooting.

  • Responsible for adherence to the Capital Rx Code of Conduct including reporting of noncompliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong programming skills, with proficiency in Python and PostgreSQL. Experience with additional languages like Rust is a plus.

  • Proven ability to design and execute comprehensive testing strategies spanning unit, regression, stress/load, performance, and security testing.

  • Expertise in building and maintaining automated testing suites integrated into CI/CD workflows.

  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., DynaTrace, Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic).

  • Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, AWS services, networking, and infrastructure-level concepts such as VPNs and traffic routing.

  • Familiarity with QA-specific tools like Playwright, Locust, or similar testing platforms.

  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to independently drive initiatives and tackle challenges without requiring explicit direction.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and product teams.

  • A track record of taking ownership and delivering high-quality solutions in technically complex environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Rust or other modern programming languages.

  • Experience with Strongswan or similar VPN technologies.

  • Exposure to chaos engineering tools like Chaos Monkey or similar practices.

  • Familiarity with load testing tools like Locust, Gatling, or similar.

Why Join Us?
This role goes beyond traditional QA or testing. It’s an opportunity to take an engineering-first approach to building resilient, high-performing systems while ensuring quality is embedded at every step. You’ll gain hands-on experience working at the intersection of infrastructure reliability and advanced testing practices.
If you thrive in challenging, technically complex environments and enjoy driving solutions from concept to execution, we’d love to have you on our team.
