POSITION SUMMARY:
Atalanta Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Bioinformatics team in support of our growing research efforts. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply bioinformatics expertise toward first-in-class RNAi drug discovery. The successful candidate will analyze and integrate both public and in-house transcriptomic datasets, leveraging a solid understanding of common bioinformatics file formats. They will independently design, run, and enhance complex Nextflow pipelines, as well as contribute to the development of AI/ML models that predict siRNA efficacy. This position plays a key role in advancing multiple RNAi-based therapeutics targeting neurodegenerative diseases.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute drug design algorithm for multiple targets and contribute to expanding the algorithm with key new features.
- Contribute to the development and operationalization of a new AI/ML model for siRNA efficacy prediction.
- Analyze transcriptomics data using public and proprietary pipelines and address key questions for drug development such as efficacy and safety.
- Provide support to manage Atalanta’s bioinformatics cloud environment and develop Nextflow pipelines that answer key biological questions.
- Collaborate with various research teams and provide genomics and bioinformatics support as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related discipline, with 0-5+ years of industry experience, is required. Level will be commensurate with experience.
- Understanding of the common transcriptomics and genomics file formats and ability to parse these formats using command-line tools and R scripts.
- Experience in programming, scripting, querying or statistical analysis languages such as Bash, R, and python is required.
- Experience with running Nextflow workflows and developing Nextflow pipelines.
- Experience with Git for committing and tracking code.
- Understanding of machine learning (ML) techniques and utilizing ML methods with sequence data.
- Exposure to cloud computing such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Sufficient experience to contribute with minimal training period.
- Enthusiasm to help design and develop novel therapeutics targeting neurological diseases with a high unmet medical need.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in creating dashboards with Plotly Dash, R Shiny, or Tableau.
- Experience in analyzing human population genomics data and analyze results using R code
