Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Research Scientist of Biochemistry and Biophysics to join the Early Discovery team. At ARTBIO, we couple our ability to generate 212Pb to novel chemical scaffolds which are developed to specifically bind to tumor targets with high affinity. This opportunity is for an individual who strives to innovate, is never satisfied with routine, and has a strong heart for ARTBIO’s mission. A self-starter and innovator, you will be part of a cross-function team to lead key programs from our internal and partnered Discovery portfolio as well as support the build of the Early Discovery Biology disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively interact with colleagues in cell biology, medicinal chemistry, translational research, plus other functional groups. Provide biochemistry and biophysics expertise to solve project specific problems driving project progression
  • Develop and implement strategies to leverage biochemical and biophysical characterization to guide SAR development
  • Independently design, develop and troubleshoot biochemical and biophysical experiments for characterizing the binding of small molecules and peptides to targets of interest through H2L, LO, and DC stages
  • Perform compound screening using biochemical and biophysical assays, such as SPR, ITC, TR-FRET, AlphaLisa, and etc
  • Maintain detailed records, analyze and interpret the data, generate SAR reports
  • Transfer optimized biochemical and biophysical assays to CRO partners and manage CRO relationships to support, guide, and troubleshoot biophysical and biochemical experiments
  • Present scientific work at the internal and external meetings, write manuscripts for publication
  • Stay scientifically current and adopt emerging technologies to drug discovery process

Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or related discipline, with at least 2 years of experience in developing small molecule and peptide ligands in an industry setting is required
  • In-depth knowledge of applying biochemical/biophysical technologies to support hit characterization and SAR development. Extensive experience in designing and developing biochemistry and biophysics assays, such as SPR, ITC, MST, TR-FRET, AlphaLisa, and etc
  • Hand-on experience of using SPR to characterize the binding of small molecules and peptides to targets of interest is required. Deep understanding of different SPR assay formats and the measurement of kinetics
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work seamlessly with multiple drug discovery teams to provide technical supports at all stages of the project
  • Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively with other scientists and research associates to accomplish goals on tight timelines. Ability to navigate in a start-up environment and adapt in the ‘unknown’

About Us

ARTBIO is a clinical-stage radiopharmaceutical company redefining cancer care by creating a new class of alpha radioligand therapies (ARTs). The unique ARTBIO approach selects the optimal alpha-precursor isotope (212Pb) and tumor-specific targets to create therapeutics with the potential for highest efficacy and safety. The company's AlphaDirect™ technology, a first-of-its-kind 212Pb isolation method, enables a distributed manufacturing approach for the reliable production and delivery of ARTs. ARTBIO is advancing multiple pipeline programs with lead program AB001 currently in first in human trials. ARTBIO is shaped by a long-standing scientific legacy with nearly a century of pioneering work in radiation therapy conducted at the University of Oslo and Norway’s Radium Hospital.
