Job Description

AppliedVR is looking for a Staff Accountant to support the Accounting Manager in an active role that will help to drive the success of our growing Accounting function. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Roles & Responsibilities (are not limited to the following):

  • Partner with the Accounting Manager to enable smooth, efficient, and compliant operation of the department
  • Manage the inbound Accounting mail and shared email inbox by promptly sorting and routing incoming documents and responding to inquires
  • Drive the month-end close process by managing full-cycle accounting responsibilities, ensuring all journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Own end-to-end AP and AR processes, including new vendor setup, invoice tracking, and proactive account management.
  • Support employee expense reporting and reimbursements through the Concur platform
  • Contribute to daily accounting activities such as transaction reconciliation, document management, and report preparation
  • Enable payroll compliance by managing and maintaining state withholding accounts and ensuring accurate filings across various jurisdictions
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records to ensure documentation is audit-ready

Experience & Qualifications Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, related field or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, with a working understanding of US GAAP and the ability to manage complex financial workflows
  • Hands-on experience managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including active AR collections and proactive customer account management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (utilizing vlookup, xlookup, pivot tables, and macros) to analyze data and improve reporting accuracy
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Concur strongly preferred
  • Prior experience with payroll preparation and a solid understanding of withholding taxes and state filing requirements preferred
  • Prior experience supporting external audits or working in public accounting is a plus
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to automate or accelerate accounting workflows is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, remotely, in dynamic fast-paced environment

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000. The salary range describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this position across all US locations. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to relevant qualifications, depth of experience, skill set, certifications, training, education, and specific work location. The compensation packages may be adjusted based on candidate work location, due to differences in the cost of living for the given location.
