How will your role make an impact at Aera Therapeutics? Reporting to the Director, Finance and Accounting, you will be responsible for the management, oversight, and integrity of the General Ledger, the close process, and other operational accounting functions ensuring accurate and effective processing and efficient execution. You will be in a hybrid setting in our Cambridge, MA office.
You will:
- Own the monthly and quarterly close process; prepare journal entries, accrual schedules, and account reconciliations as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Maintain the general ledger and subledgers, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely
- Assist with preparation of internal and external financial reporting and supporting schedules along with tie-outs of the financial statements
- Analyze and provide commentary on the balance sheet and income statement variances.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly and ad-hoc reporting for senior management.
- Support tracking of CRO/CMO contracts, purchase orders, and spending against budget
- Prepare audit support schedules and respond to auditor requests
- Assist with the implementation of SOX controls documentation, testing, and compliance efforts
- Support Finance team with ad hoc projects and participate in finance discussions and monthly close meetings
- Collaborate with other finance team members to identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the day-to-day operations as well as the close process and assist with the implementation of such recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with 5+ years of technical accounting experience
- NetSuite experience (or other ERP), & ADP WFN experience preferred
- CPA License Preferred
- Ability to translate and present financial reporting to leadership

The approximate salary range for this role is $120,000 - $140,000.
Our salary ranges are determined by job scope, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position as posted. Within the range, individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and business need. In addition to the base salary, eligible employees will have an opportunity to participate in an annual cash bonus, equity incentives, and a robust benefits offering that includes health insurance, 401k retirement plan with company match, paid sick and vacation time, life and disability insurance, and commuting expense reimbursement.
