Job Description

The Senior Director of Global Security will direct the development and implementation of an effective global security strategy and program to mitigate risk and safeguard the organization's human assets, intellectual property, integrity, reputation, and physical assets. The Senior Director of Global Security will also execute daily management of the Global Security program to align with corporate objectives and address all aspects of security for the organization's global businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating and managing global security budget for annual OpEx and CapEx globally.

  • Establish and implement security systems and safeguards for asset protection, intellectual property protection and employee safety at domestic and international locations.

  • Overall responsibility for the company’s GSOC (global security operations center). GSOC responsibilities include, situational awareness monitoring and reporting, traveler monitoring and safety & security, CCTV and alarm management as well as additional duties.

  • Direct and enhance the executive protection and event security programs.

  • Participate as a senior leader in the company’s supply chain security council

  • Direct and enhance the company’s global security program including policies, objectives, budgets, plans, procedures, and schedules. Periodically assess the Program with quality control audits, work standard reviews and performance level evaluations to ensure uniformity and effectiveness.

  • Develop and implement a global security process that assesses current threats, vulnerabilities, and consequences to develop protection goals, objectives, and metrics consistent with corporate strategic objectives and alignment with company culture.

  • Responsible for establishing compliance with all applicable laws and regulations globally and be knowledgeable of current trends in the security industry. Consult with third party security firms as required to leverage government experience and expertise.

  • Develop a strategic direction for the Corporate Security program that will engage internal customers and provide leadership for all team members who have responsibility of protecting the company’s assets.

  • Develop an all-employee security awareness training program.

  • Responsible where needed in coordinating cross functional efforts with Real Estate and Facilities, Legal, Human Resources, Global Compliance, Risk Management, EHS, Internal Audit, Finance, and Global Information Systems to provide thorough analysis of security risks and development of appropriate mitigating strategies.

  • Maintain professional relationships with all levels of company employees, key vendors and serve as liaison with public law enforcement, fire and other agencies as it relates to security efforts.

  • Participate in and/or conduct investigations to include but not limited to fraud, theft, and workplace violence.

  • Participate in a leadership role on the corporate crisis management, and emergency response teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience with increasing responsibility in a private sector multi-national corporate security organization or related public sector experience, of which at least 15 years must be in a senior leadership role.

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education; relevant certifications, organization leadership or memberships desired

  • Team Leadership and management experience, exceptional team-building skills, collaborative and process-management skills

  • Intelligent, persuasive, and articulate leader who can communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff, business leaders and senior management, politically astute but not politically motivated.

  • Results oriented and unquestioned personal and business integrity

  • Ability to operate in a fast paced rapidly changing and challenging matrixed environment, comfortable with frequent ambiguity and able to make decisions based on experience and situational awareness.

  • Establish role as subject matter expert, able to establish and maintain a high degree of credibility. Demonstrate creative mental agility to solve problems and implement effective solutions with limited input. Ability to understand customer needs and to work effectively with leaders and corporate executives.

  • Domestic and some global travel will be required; appropriate experience, knowledge of global customs and an established global network is desired.

  • Although the Senior Director role will occasionally work with the CISO, this is not an IT or cyber security focused role.
