The Vertex Co-op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate intern to join the Chemical Biology group in the Boston Research organization. Our group uses a wide range of approaches to understand disease mechanisms of action and the interplay of this disease biology with potential therapeutic strategies. The successful candidate will develop and use molecular biology, chemoproteomics and mass spectrometry skills to create proteome-wide tools that examine small molecule and protein interactions in drug discovery. They will operate in a multi-disciplinary chemical biology group and be fully immersed in the day-to-day operations of a drug discovery group. An ideal candidate is curious, self-motivated, has a strong drive to learn new things and thrives in both independent and team roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cell culture and maintenance
  • Protein preparation, assay
  • Chemical proteomics, click-chemistry functionalization
  • Fractionation, affinity-enrichment of protein complexes
  • Maintenance and operation of high-resolution mass spectrometer
  • Data analysis and presentation

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of undergraduate study completed
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Majors in the following backgrounds: Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, or a related field of study.
  • Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating January 2024
