The Business Engagement & Technology Senior Principal Analyst for the International Medical Affairs and Chief Patient Offer (CPO) organizations is a technical and relationship management resource within Vertex’s Data, Technology, and Engineering (DTE) team. They are responsible for understanding the needs and vision of the Medical Affairs International and CPO teams and ensuring new and existing technology platforms are properly deployed, enhanced, maintained, and supported to enable their operations. They will have direct end-to-end ownership for all Medical Affairs externally facing web sites as well as all systems supporting the CPO organization. In addition, they will work closely with DTE colleagues in the U.S. that own the other platforms used by the International Medical Affairs business teams (e.g., CRM, Medical Information, Analytics, etc.) to ensure they meet the needs unique to the international operation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Become a trusted partner of the Vertex International Medical Affairs and Chief Patient Officer (CPO) business leaders, understand their needs and vision, and deliver technology solutions to support and enable their goals and objectives.
Engage as a key participant in the strategic business planning process for the International Medical Affairs and CPO organizations. Provide insights on how technology can improve business processes to enable operating efficiencies and support business goals.
Develop and maintain a technology strategy for the CPO organization to support and advance their objectives, factoring in the future direction of the business area and changes in the technology landscape
Execute the technology strategy for CPO by leading the evaluation, selection, and implementation of technology solutions, then take end-to-end ownership for the ongoing operation and maintenance of those solutions developing and maintaining a long-term life cycle plans
Help define and execute the technology strategy for Medical Affairs by representing the specific needs and point of view of the International Medical Affairs organization, and working with DTE colleagues in the U.S., support the evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of technology solutions
Ensure the ongoing maintenance of reliable, scalable, and compliant systems for Medical Affairs by partnering with U.S. DTE colleagues to incorporate the unique needs of International Medical Affairs into the long-term system life cycle plans for Medical Affairs systems and platforms.
Be the platform owner for all of Medical Affairs externally facing web sites with end-to-end responsibility for on-going day-to-day operations and long term life cycle planning and management
Manage relationships with software vendors and service providers
Work closely with DTE Compliance, Internal Audit, and Quality Assurance groups as needed to ensure compliance with all appropriate regulations, as well as our DTE system lifecycle and change management requirements.
Skills & Experience
Significant experience in the Life Sciences industry, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Extensive international work experience with significant exposure to the major European countries and an understating/sensitivity to their cultural norms and differences
Demonstrated proficiency in the core disciplines of project management, business analysis, solution design, delivery, and testing
Experienced in building productive partnerships with business stakeholders and aligning them around a recommendation/solution
Results oriented manager and contributor with a proven track record of on-time project delivery for large, complex projects with global stakeholders
Ability and willingness to flex as needed between leading/managing and hands-on execution in the roles of project manager, business analyst, and technical solution design and delivery
Strong written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to present complex or sensitive information in a clear and concise manner to various technical and non-technical audiences
Substantial program/ project management, demand management, resource management and system life cycle expertise
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities including development of business case / value propositions
Prior experience running IT managed services or outsourced/ offshore teams
Superior MS Office skills, including MS Project & Visio, Excel and PowerPoint Experience
Strong experience in Agile methodology
Education
Bachelor's degree in technology discipline or equivalent
