Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide support to medical team focusing on the delivery of medical plans and ensuring medical launch excellence in partnership with cross-functional country and international/global teams. The post-holder will work closely with the country medical team to ensure activities are executed compliantly and according to local guidelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works in close collaboration with the International Medical Affairs team and contributes to the timely implementation of the Region Medical plans.
  • Key activities include support of the planning and process aspects of Vertex sponsored medical education events, advisory boards, launch excellence, medical reporting, regional internal medical meetings, management of review and approval of medical materials in Vertex systems and with the local medical team support the development of slides for business presentations.
  • The Medical Coordinator has responsibility for tracking and managing all aspects of activities within their remit, as defined by roles and responsibilities. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions to the Regional Medical Director.
  • The post-holder will be expected to build and manage collaborative relationships with internal cross functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Timely and appropriate external communications with HCPs/HCOs in a professional and responsible manner as per business needs
  • Safeguarding of Medical Affairs and empowered to ensure compliance and maintain appropriate medical, commercial interactions both internally and externally whilst adhering to applicable legislation, in particular: copyright, privacy/GDPR, Code of Conduct and reporting payments to HCPs (Global Spend Transparency).
  • Responsible for HCP contracts for Medical Affairs activities, including FMV, contract creation and approvals, HCP communications, PO administration and post meeting reporting.
  • Confident managing external agencies to ensure their timely delivery of work to meet timelines and budget, whilst safe-guarding quality of work and compliance to relevant local/regional regulations
  • Understand the impact of any constraints and threats that may impact the ability to complete work on time, authorisation to implement actions to address risk, whilst notifying senior management of mitigating actions
  • Through own judgement and initiative, identifies proposed changes to parameters and notifies recommendation to Regional Medical Director – e.g. scope, budget, schedules.
  • On-boarding of medical colleagues in International Medical Affairs
  • Organise and conduct meetings as needed according to scope of work and ensure post-meeting follow up on actions to ensure completion
  • Ability to work with OBIE and legal to identify, advise and implement process improvements to ensure optimal compliance and process efficiency
  • Culturally sensitive and champion to advise and educate other regions and/or functions i.e. Global colleagues to maintain and share information on HCP engagements
  • Ability for international travel as required

EDUCATION:

BSc or MSc (or equivalents) or proven medical/scientific work experience

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Fluent in English
  • Experience of delivering projects to time
  • Experience of working on pharmaceutical industry and regulatory environments
  • Experience of working with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to professionally communicate with HCPs/HCOs, verbal and written
  • Well-developed planning and organisational skills
  • Outstanding communication and inter-personal skills
  • High-level of IT literacy, proficient user of Microsoft Office tools and MS Project
  • Proven capability to manage projects and stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver resolutions of highly complex or unusual business problems
