Coordinates cross-functional projects and assumes a leadership role in shaping priorities, setting, and tracking schedules, driving issue resolution, and ensuring quality.
Requires strong Project Management skills and a proven experience with applying the Six Sigma and Agile methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of all weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual contract deliverables.
- Initiate change management reviews and contract modifications and identify requirements for product and IT development.
- Manage and implement complex Data Services installations to include both domestic and international services.
- Lifecycle Management of Government Contracts.
- Leads and facilitates /project “kick off “session to review assumptions and expectations, gather requirements, educate internal stakeholders on product and services, etc.
- Identifies and schedules project deliverables, milestones and required tasks, providing early visibility to schedules/milestones that are at risk. Provides supportive analysis that impacts the use of resources.
- Builds detailed project plans and schedules through creation (updating) of templates for products across all processes, independently managing day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large-scale projects.
- Directs and coordinates activities for project personnel, clinical and non-clinical to ensure project progresses on schedule. Can influence across the project scope without authority. Ability to work through ambiguous situations and guide to tactical resolutions, and go forward action plans
- Maintains an overall program level risk and issue log. Facilitates risk mitigation and issue resolution across functional managers and sponsors to minimize impact to project schedule and internal stakeholder satisfaction. Aligns to strategic needs of the client, as well as best practice experiences.
- Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with stakeholders that continue to progress the project per charter / guidelines formulated at project initiation
- Understands the business fundamentals, provides routine updates to senior leadership (both client and GHX) on assigned projects, in the form of routine project check in meetings, and / or formal project readouts. Areas needing escalation are provided and resolved through mutual senior management teams
- Coordinates and manages team members in completing defined deliverables and with the producing key project artifacts to document the project.
- Provides leadership, mentoring, and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle. Holds team members accountable to commitments and aligns to overall project status reporting / escalation transparently
- Assists the teams with project best practices, techniques, and tools for project planning, execution, project management, ongoing milestone/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.
- Identifies and facilitates opportunities for process improvement both in terms of project management tools and processes.
- Maintains product knowledge to increase efficiency in delivery of products.
Key Skills/Competencies
- PMP Certification required
- ERP/MMIS experience required (or equivalent)
Required Education, Certifications, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in project leadership roles, preferably at a VA hospital.
- IT Project Management using SDLC or Agile scrum approach for federal agency (e.g., VA, DoD, CMS).
- Advanced knowledge of project management methods and Lifecycle Management of Government Contracts.
- Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- Initiate change management reviews and contract modifications and identify requirements for product and IT development.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Superior ability to multi-task.
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of solutions
- Well-developed interpersonal skills in a customer-facing role.
- Solid analytical and qualitative reasoning skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment, yet be self-directed, proactive, and action oriented.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment in complex situations and function independently with initiative, creativity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze and diagnose project performance problems and execute effective corrective actions.
- Experience managing large clinical projects that are multi-threaded, including teams more than 5 team members.
- Healthcare Information Technology or Operational leadership experience
- Experience with integration technologies (HL7, FHIR etc)

Estimated salary range: $98,300 - $130,500
The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the GHX’s salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of GHX’s total compensation package for employees.
