Software Development Manager - Colorado

Location: Hybrid - 2 -3x a week in the Louisville, CO office
The Manager, Software Development, reports to the Executive Director, Software and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the technical development team. Working closely with Product and other Development teams, this role executes the company’s technical, architectural, and commercial product initiatives.
As a Manager Software Development, you will be leading a team of software engineers working on selective initiative related to the Fusion Platform. The platform has been set up with an aim towards having a singular focus; responsibility for the development of technology products for all Ingress and Egress of data to and from GHX.
This role will be hybrid position, with the team collaborating in person at our Louisville, CO headquarters (near Denver) 2-3x week. The rest of the time, this position is remote.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Development, Product, and Architecture teams to:
- Manage a team within the platform with significant functional responsibility for success
- Works within strict constraints of budget and resources set at product line and functional level.
- Follows established processes and policies in selecting methods and techniques for developing solutions e.g. - Meet audit, compliance, and availability standards, Plan and execute the timely release process for deliverables with all stakeholders including necessary communication, etc.
- Recognize changing circumstances and adjust resources to minimize immediate risk. Works with others to mitigate risk and communicate to impacted teams.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with domains’ internal and external user base
- Execute strategic plans set at functional level to deliver tactical results.
- Successfully develop individuals, holding team members accountable for actions. Build and evolve technical Development team, ensuring capability to support roadmap requirements
- Influence individuals within platform and across functions
- Manage the activities of multiple sections and disciplines
Key Duties
- Specify and scope product features and define acceptance criteria
- Assess risks and dependencies and identify mitigation strategies
- Participate in department-wide special projects, including coordination activities to resolve broad issues or challenges
- Employ Agile development methodologies for software development activities
- Manage and coordinate technical dependencies with other teams
- Coordinate incident response for the team, including coverage and technical response to issue
- Hire, train, guide, and coach team members
- Other duties as assigned

- Engineering background, including ability to understand technical architecture and implementation at code level
- Ability to drive high level technical discussions independently regarding the platform and serve as a strong partner to our product team.

Required Education, Certifications, and Experience
- B.S. in Computer Science or related degree, or a combination of education and related experience.
- 3+ years of prior software development management experience
- 7+ years of prior software development experience
- Experience leading teams who produce high quality deliverables
- Experience working with an international development team (e.g., internal remote offices or outsourcing partners)
- Experience with Agile development processes
- Experience and ability to lead and mentor a team of software engineers building applications using Angular, Java/JEE and AWS environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certifications (Developer or Solutions Architect)
- Experience with building and managing applications in Java/JEE
- Experience building and maintaining production systems within the AWS ecosystem
Estimated Salary range for this position: $118,200 - $157,500
The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the GHX’s salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of GHX’s total compensation package for employees.
